La_Kelvin,
As far as I am aware Jimmy is the only one to have had his TMS misdiagnosed.
You asked on the Ulcers as TMS thread if anyone been told they have TMS only to find it was something else and I mentioned there had been someone and Armchairlinguist provided the link to Jimmy's post.
You can worry that you are like Jimmy and misdiagnosed or you can believe the very many posters who have TMS and do the work. It's up to you.

It's funny though. After reading your response to my post, I couldn't help but wonder if you read this: quote: You know what. screw that. I shouldn't say Schecter is a "weak link" because of one failed story. My "worry" part of my personality came forward. I'm sure that Schecter has helped thousands of people with TMS. It's just odd that he missed such an obvious diagnosis with Jimmy. I hope that Schecter has learned from his mistake. But, to be honest, I haven't had any tests ordered by him to rule out something "more", but I don't think that is an admission of guilt.
Yo give credit, when I first saw him he kinda of had a doubt in his mind if I was TMS, then he asked me about my mental state and he said "Now I'm certain you are, in fact you're on the extreme end".
So I guess I can sit here and bite my fingers thinking "OH MY GOD IM LIKE JIMMY", lol. But I would make myself crazy. I also notice that I was having a pain free day until I read Jimmy's thread. Heee Heee
Now I'm all anxious and tight feeling.

Glad you are making progress LA_Kelvin.
I wanted to point out that Jimmy is the only case I can think of whose illness was missed.
And I wouldn't think that Jimmy's was an obvious diagnosis (as you state) - it's surely very rare. |

But you've seen other physicians to rule out serious medical issues, right?

Tennis Tom also had some unkind things to say about Schecter, or at least his bedside manner...

Dear La Kevin,
Don't make such a problem of seeing Schechter. You are yourself the one who has to make the adding up. Thousands of doctors make mistakes. It sounds strange but it is the case. First rule is exclude anything serious physical. Your own doctor can do that.
Use schechter to get help on TMS. He is an expert. He is not God, nor is Sarno. You must do your own deduction with the brilliant knowledge of TMS.
Maybe good to list your findings and set out a path to rule out the physical.
Good luck.
