I read this in "The Five Things We Cannot Change",by David Richo
Our Calling
This is the true joy in life:being used for a purpose recognized by yourself as a mighty one, being thouroughly worn out before you are thrown on the scrap heap, being a force of nature instead of a feverish, selfish, little clod of ailments and grievances complaining that the world will not devote itself to making you happy.

(the last part reminded me of my own ego, complaining, etc.)

Hi Althe, Did GB Shaw originally say this? Do you recommend this book? I saw your other post and it sounds interesting ... is it a goodie?

G.B. Shaw was quoted as the author in David Richo's book. I really liked it, and "The Power of Coincidence" also by David Richo.
I borrowed "The Five Things We Cannot Change" from the library, maybe see if it's available at your library, in case it's not your cup of tea.
