It seems that people on this forum always talk of pain attacks from TMS. I don't have attacks. My butt hurts when I sit and my low back hurts if I stand for a long time.

Anyone else have this kind of manifestation of TMS?

Same thing here. I don't get "attacks."

My butt hurts when I sit, the entire time while sitting, and my lower back wil hurt if I'm standing for a long time, standing still — walking is fine. (the very low back)

Not everyone has attacks, from what I've read over the course of my time being on this forum (a long time). I think it goes from some pains here and there, to non-stop pain day and night, depending on the person. If you read the old forum messages, you'll see people who have pain only while doing a certain action, and others with pain constantly. You'll even see this mentioned in Dr. Sarno's books.

How long have you been at the TMS therapy and have you seen results?

I used to have attacks but not any more. I went through different stages o improvement. From paralyzing pain (attacks) to pain in certain positions or situations, to the discomfort in my back, stomach, etc. I am sure TMS has all kind of forms of manifestation and yours may be one of them.

Hi Bill,

I generally have had the pain build slowly from onset, very gradually, until it reaches the point when I'm totally incapacitated (over a period of days or weeks).

Now that I understand TMS I recognize, usually the first day, that some stressor has entered my life when the pain is minor. Now I can "work the issue" by recognizing that there must be something going on in my life at the moment, and short circuit the severe pain days before it would have previously gotten worse.

It used to take me weeks the "traditional way" (pre Sarno), through NSAIDs, bed rest, exercises, to reduce my intense lower back and sciatic pain. Now of course I realize that path was totally wrong (years of bad conditioning by the medical community).

I've rarely had "an attack" out of the blue. -Stryder

I think... at least for me attack or flareup is just a nice word for it.
Because sometimes a flareup or attack is not instant...

But it becames more of a flareup or attack once you have had some success, treating it with TMS technique...

So I generally have it under control although usually having some level of pain every given day, but usually at a level it does not cause me any problems. When my pain flares up tho it just increases above a certain level , where it becomes alarming....
