Hi Friends,
Well now my heart is doing major flip flops..similiar to right after both my parents died, 17 years ago..It's very scary...I was previously diagnosed by a cardiologist years ago with MVP..The last time I went to see him, maybe 5 years ago he said it had gone away..Well now it seems to be back full force...

I gained 15 plus pounds in the past 4 months and my hormones are whacked out on top of it..I am under considerable stress and internal conflicts are at an all time high..My b/f is back in NYC, I miss him terribly..but it was my decision to return to Vegas for awhile to get my life in order here..Finances are making it impossible to move permanently back there until who knows when...I may be going back and forth which is stressful in itself...Not to mention the affect on my doggies...They are so content to have me back...So how does one make an impossible decision like I am faced with? To have to decide between my dogs (who would be very happy staying here with my roomie/bro their other caretaker)..or my boyfriend who is deathly allergic to dogs?? He is trying all he can and going for one last type of treatment on Friday..Prayers for this whole situation are welcome...

The good news...I got a commission for a painting..This will help the financial situation (to a degree) and keep my mind off my troubles as well...The TMS is back full force...neck, knee..and now heart..I remember DR. Sarno saying MVP was all a TMS equivalent..Anyone else battle with this?
Thanx for listening!
Hugs and God bless,
Karen

Hey Karen sorry to hear your having trouble. I am new to Sarno and I have only been journaling and doing the work about 2 weeks. I have a 3 year old son and when I was pregnant I would have such terrible runs of irregular beats I would lose my breath and have to sit and rest until it went back to normal. I had a cardiac workup, the monitor, the whole deal and I was left with PAT (the atria beat too fast). Well this is in Sarno's book as a symptom. Anyway eventually I was able to stop the medication unless I tried to exercise or got sick. I have been relatively med free for about a year. I started my journanling and guess what PAT with avengence, even started back on meds. I think it is from the anxiety that is from the TMS work and the associated flare up. Good luck too you!

Karen, sorry to hear the stuff you are going through -- great on the painting though!

But remember -- you don't have MVP, or neck, or knee, or anything else problems. You've got TMS. It's scary but harmless. Get your focus off your body. Do something to RELEASE the crazy emotions you are feeling because of the upheaval in your life. Write, paint, dance, scream, cry, run, jump, anything. Experience them as well as describing and talking about them.

I believe you don't have to keep suffering from your physical symptoms even though you are under a lot of stress. It's great that you are continuing with your life already. You have really won the major battle. :-) Just keep on trucking toward the pain-free land.

Momtoone,
I am sorry to hear you went through this as well..It is scary...I do think mine is TMS/anxiety..or hormones could be a part..I am in my late 40's and close to perimenopause..But..My periods have been super regular until all the stress and subsequent recent weight gain...Thanx for replying...
Hugs and blessings,
Karen
Hi ACL,
Thank you as always for your encouragement, wisdom and friendship! yes it is anxiety..no doubt..And thank God for the commission..I have to start this painting asap to get paid..That, no doubt, will take my mind off of it..I am also on day 2 of healthy eating and walking again..That's got to help...
Hugs and Blessings,
Karen

Karen,
I also had MVP symptoms when my TMS was at its worst. You know its not anything but stress. Go to see Sarno asap. You'll not regret it. Nor

I remember over a decade ago when TV doctor Dean Edel hyped MVP mercilessly. He now has a line of reading glasses at the drug store. My ex got dx'ed with it by her Kaiser doc and it made a nervous wreck out of her. That epedemic has faded to be replaced by newer ones.

It's a good example of the role of the media in creating nocebo effects and the current epedemic of TMS psychosomatic pain. My ex'es MVP waned but she was always an anxiety prone lady. Being handed a new dis-ease to worry about didn't help her any. Doc Edel always comes off as a very believable TV doc. He probably believes the stuff he spouts--it's based on reputable clinical studies after-all.

From Amelia Island, Florida, headed home.

Thanx Nor and TT,
It seems like the MVP symptoms are getting better today...I am in a better mental state and it also seems to correspond w/ the beginning of my menstral cycle...Makes me wonder if it might partially be related to hormones..But I would rather it be just plain old TMS..Feels more like something I can control then...
Blessings,
Karen
