It's not only a problem with doctors in my experience,
half the people I meet want to know about my injuries I tell them and then there are all like. 'man , you should see so on, so. OMG , haven't you been to a doctor for that!, you should see a chiropractor, blah blah blah & so on & so on' GRRR doctors don't do **** for my ailments (excuse the language, if you're offended by)
And then there's the [usually] mistake of mentioning TMS or psychosomatic beliefs to people and I have not met ANYONE that I know, who is slightly open to the concept, apart from my dad. My dad has done a lot of personal emotional work so he is very open to the idea. But most people when you mention it they almost panic and get frightened at the concept. And then start giving me warnings.
It was fairly devastating when I told my friend, who I was almost definite would-be open to the idea(he is a new-age sort of person who believes in magic and the power of will, but not in TMS!!).
Those feelings of having to get everything 'correct' very damaging I think. Unless you can back up your ideas/opinions. I'm given the impression that you cannot give an opinion because you will be shot down embarrassed and humiliated just for having an opinion.
I even read these posts of my own about three or four times to scan for spelling mistakes and grammar mistakes!!!! Goodisms/perfectionism uses up a lot of time lol |
