Sara, the short version is that I was in a minor car accident.. I walked out of it shaken up and angry at the setback. Before I started the tms journey I blamed the crash for my back, but looking back I'd had the same back pain a few times before about a month prior to the crash. After many Chiros and back specialist I got told my ligaments weren't holding my si joints in place and that my pelvis was loose. I had 8 lots of prolotherapy and it helped for the first 4 sessions but then I hit a plateau and made no more progress.
I've since been told that I have hypermobility in most of my joints ... it wasn't intill then that I started getting pains in other joints... that were supposedly to loose. Before This I was a personal trainer. .. training in gym 5 times a week then suddenly this...I was going through alot of stress at the time with family and being kicked out my job. The one thing that keeps me focused on the tms is that I have had alot of weird illnesses come up and all which have gone away. I had a wheat and dairy allergy for 8 years, then 3 months before the back pain started my wheat allergy disappeared completely. .. symptom substitute.
I was told alot of nocebos from all these doctors durimg the dignosis times, such as 'your like a rag doll, I've never seen anyone so loose limbed' and 'your be lucky if you don't find you end up in a wheelchair'.... not what you want to hear at 27.
I believe I have tms, I'm just not sure how I go about changing it, I get very impatient, I'm having councilling, I'm journally, and I'm doing my best to remain positive.
Would you say you have flareups with your back pain even now?

Hi HB,
I just read your recent post and I am sorry you are having such trouble. I feel for you. As far as my back goes, it aches often. But not with the same severity it used to. It is minor and I don't really think about it so much anymore. I have to say that I really believe going back to work is what helped me the most. I had to push through..it wasn't an option. I know it is hard. I had days where I would just want to come home and sit down for the rest of the day.
Again, I don't really believe the hypermobility diagnosis. Why would it hit everything all at once? I am guessing as a personal trainer you did some stretching, but in my experience it seems athletes are not typically all that flexible. I was a serious gymnast and a college diver..I had to be flexible, but I am not anymore. I didn't have pain then.
I wish you the best. Try to power through when you can, but cut yourself a break too. You seem to be very hard on yourself.
