I'd be interested in starting a TMS support group in San Francisco. We could meet once or twice a month (I know a quiet café with ample free parking, easy access from the North Bay and the Peninsula, and a block away from a Muni Metro line.) If interested, please send me an e-mail or reply to this thread. If at least four of us can get together, we could call it a group.

About me: I've had back pain for many years. It became quite severe about six months ago and almost pushed me to the brink. I saw two spine specialists, a physical therapists, two chiropractors, an acupuncturist, visited a pain clinic, until I discovered Dr. Sarno about two months ago. The pain has eased considerably but is now shifting to my hip, and I feel I need a little push to reach the finish line. I'm also considering a psychologist and waiting to see if other Bay Area members can come up with a name.

Hi Carlo,

Good idea ! I'd be interested. I split my time in the Inner-Richmond/Mill Valley areas. I've given up on finding a TMS trained psychotherapist in NORCAL.

Seems like it could be quite lucrative for one. They would have a monopoly on the TMS- bizness around here. I don't feel like training one on my dime. Maybe one will fall out of the sky?

What part of town is the cafe in? Easy parking sounds good. I'll have a maciato please .

I would be interested in this. I would be coming from the Peninsula but I enjoy getting up to SF and would really like to talk with people in person!

Good Question Tom...Maybe I should make up a flyer of some sort and put it up at Whole Foods and Wild Oats..Vegas is just so weird and so many people are transient here...I was thinking no one would be into it...Thanx for asking...

I suggest we meet next Thursday August 3 at 7:30 P.M. (date and time subject to change to accommodate everyone). We can meet at the café in Andronico's market on 14th Avenue and Irving Street (in the Inner Sunset District). Everyone in the San Francisco Bay Area who wishes to join is welcome to drop in. I'll post a reminder on this board next week with directions.

[Edited]

Actually I think because of the scheduled outages of the N Judah connection to Caltrain, I would not be able to make any weekday evening meetings at this location (unless someone were to very kindly provide me with alternate transportation back to Caltrain after the meeting). So I would prefer a weekend evening (Friday or Saturday) or weekend daytime (Sat or Sun). Or a closer location to Caltrain? (There's actually a Borders right by there.)

Singer,
I think TT meant, what's stopping you from putting a group together in Vegas via posting it here. Maybe I'm wrong.

Too bad I no longer live there. Just the mention of streets and places makes me nostalgic for the place. Speaking of the Inner Sunset, there used to be a great cafe (now out of business) on 9th Ave near Irving called "The Owl & Monkey" that I used to love going to. I must have been there at least several hundred times over the years. I noticed when I was recently there, that with the exception of Tart for Tart, most of the cafes and restaurants are new, which isn't necessarily a bad thing.

If I were there, I would recommend meeting at any one of these: Martha Bros on Church a few blocks south of 24th ST (great coffee). Or the old standby, Cafe Trieste in North Beach. Or Cafe Zephyr out on Balboa at 38th. There are lots of great places in the Mission. There are plenty of great Peets cafes all over, incl in Mill Valley across from another nice cafe/bookstore, The Depot. San Anselmo used to have a fantastic place--Higher Grounds or something like that, which is unfortunately out of business. I remember so many times sitting in their peaceful outdoor patio next to lush vegetation and a giant oak tree.

Have fun.

Recently there have been some fresh discussions of a TMS Bay Area Meetup. Just wanted to bump this topic so people can see what was discussed. I never did make it up for some reason.

I'm for the Depot in Mill Valley, and barring something else earth-shattering, I'll be there.

xx

Love is the answer, whatever the question

If we are going to do a true Bay Area meetup, I think the best location is somewhere in the city. There's no way I'm ever going to make it to Marin, as much as I'd love to meet you, WS (and TT!).

The previous location was central to North and South Bay.

This was last year's location. It's extremely informal. Just some tables in the supermarket's bakery. Open to the public, maybe some of the homeless will join in while sugaring-up. Very un-occupied at 7:30 in the evening, good parking and public transport. Safe neighborhood, and UC Med Center is nearby, in case anyone bails on the TMS concept.

I live in Palo Alto and would be willing to come up to San Francisco for such a meeting. Where are other people located? If we have several people in the North Bay and other people here on the Penninsula/South Bay we could have two seperate groups, I suppose.

TT, you crack me up! :-)

This location would be fine for me, though I might be a little late if it's on a weekday as my train would get to SF just at 7:25. I would also offer another suggestion: the Borders on 3rd & Townsend, which has a small cafe with tables. This would be a bit easier for me to get to, but perhaps harder for those coming from Marin, and I don't think there is as much parking.

Anyone else want to weigh in?
