Hi - I've posted a couple of times about back and chest pain, but within the last three to four weeks it seems to really have went away. Unfortunately, I woke up this morning with chest pain everytime I inhale deeply. It feels like I pulled a muscle, much like a soreness after working out. The problem I'm running into is that I haven't done anything recently that I can attribute to pulling the muscle. I feel like I'm looking too much at the pain, but I look at the stress or emotional issues, I can't seem to find anything either. The fear of a heart condition is really creeping in but I'm still trying to do what I can to deal with it. Any suggestions would help. |

Mantoloking,
That's great that you're making progress.
If you suspect anything serious, do get it checked out. At the same time, be aware that progress with TMS isn't smooth: it can come back in different forms to try and trick you.
All the best,

Hi Mantoloking,
I've had the same thing happen to me on a few occasions. It's a tightness/tension feeling through my chest when I take a deep breath and usually occurs when other TMS symptoms aren't present. I have an annual physical with my doctor and no heart problems in my family so I just treat it as a TMS equivalent. |

The thing is you never have it "beat" per se. It will always be with you. Not the pain, but the psychological and emotional issues that the pain is diverting your attention away from. As long as you have the mentality that you have to "beat it" you will not succeed in illimenating the pain. |
