I think you are right-you are worrying about it too much, what Dr.Schecter calls "hypervigilance". I had back and neck pain, but when my back would get better, I would get a hamstring pull, or a groin pull, or a sore foot. I sometimes use a technique from Monte Heuftle's book, when I am thinking about a small pain here or there, I instead think about my footsteps, or my breath, or spreading my toes as they hit the ground. I have done this when I have had a tight calf, and after a few minutes of this distraction, the pain has completely gone. It's like you mind says,"This isn't working, maybe I'll give him a canker sore later,instead."and the pain stops. |
