I agree that they're still looking at the wrong 'cause' but it's a leap that they actually figured out that the chronic pain is coming from the UNdamaged nerve fibers and not the damaged ones, as has always been previously believed.
They'll get there eventually. I have high hopes. :)
It's funny to see studies like this coming out, claiming they found out something we never knew before.
Well, Dr. Sarno has known it for more than 20 years.
Unfortunately they won't find "what causes [undamaged nerve fibers] to continually send impulses to the brain" because it is the other way around. The brain induces the pain.
Maybe one day they will actually prove Dr. Sarno's theory in a lab and doctors will finally embrace it, but I'm afraid it won't be in our lifetimes. Certainly not in Dr. Sarno's, which is a shame.
actually What this research suggest me as an interesting hypothesis is that the brain recuces blood flow by sending neuropeptides associated to emotions while in return oxygen depressed nerves are reacting by sending fast pulses back to the pain interpretation areas in the brains as they would do if there was real strutural damage while there is nothing ....
