I was watching TV and there's a new commercial for the "Back Relief Belt". It's a belt you wear around your lumbar area of your back, "invented by a chiropractor", and it has a pump feature, similar to the old basketball sneakers that had the little pump to add air to the ankle. So you press on the air button and you get instant lumbar support for every chair, your car, your office chair, "every chair is your favorite chair". It'f funny: www.backbelt.com. Glad I did not get one of these for Christmas!

Hi Mary,
In the last issue of Bottomline Health, some "professional" claimed that fish oil could stop the inflammation causing back pain!

I agree, great commercial. But what's not so funny is that a year ago, before learning about TMS, I would have ran to the phone and ordered one of these belts, because of all the admonitions from my chiro and the doctors to "baby my back" and sleep with pillows between my knees, bend this way not that. Seriously I would have bought it thinking ah ha! A miracle cure. Now, thank God I know a better way, it's called addressing my anxiety and facing up to the fact that I'm an emotional creature whose body expresses the difficult ugly emotions via pain in my neck, back and buttocks.

Hey....remember Magnets ???

I used to have the mandatory Lumbar support belt. After a while this placebo wasn't working anymore....but then I discovered 'Magnets'..My friends wife was selling them in a Multi-level-marketing operation.

So,I HAD to insert my 'Lumbar magnet' into my corset,or I was certain to have a bad day..wouldn't leave the house without it.

...I suppose it's good for GNP ???

naahhhh....just kidding.it's all crap.

Funny though !!!!!

Wow! Hot and cold packs included for FREE!

Maybe I can take all this snake oil and heat my house with it?

Yea, magnets, Mmmmm. I'm sure those are about as good for you body as having a cell phone glued to your head for hours a day.

Got Sarno? -Stryder

Just an FYI, fish oil is considered to have natural anti-inflammatory effects. It has been recommended for a lot of conditions - not always by quacks. Dr. Andrew Weil (who also supports Sarno principles) talks about its benefits a lot. Not saying its a cure for TMS, just a little info....

Yes, fish oil can be benefical for many things but my point was that it was being touted as an anti-inflammatory for back pain. Inflammation has nothing to do with TMS.
