Hi everyone.

I'm going to be in New York later this winter. I very much want to at least try to get an appt to see Dr. Sarno. The only contact info I can find on the web is on the NYU website.

Could someone here who has seen Dr. Sarno and gone through his program, tell me where they called for the appointment and roughly how far in advance they needed to make it?

I am very frightened about the pain I'm having; I'm feeling desperate. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I do not think Dr.Sarno will see you unless you are a N.Y.resident.There is a list of tms Doctors at(tarpityoga.com/tms.html)I think most will take e.mail.I went to Dr.Mark Sopher and am very satisfied. I had numness in my right leg at the top and got the feeling back.Have you read Sarno's book(s) yet? Paul.

Yes, he will see you for a one hour consultation and diagnosis. He will also invite you to his evening TMS seminar , but he will not take you on as a patient. It will cost you $1000. Remember, he is 83 years old.

His number is 212 263 6035

Best wishes

I saw him maybe 4 months ago and I live in CT. He will speak to you first on the phone to see if you are open enough to believe it is TMS.
It is a G-note cash or check but worth it.

Is the G-Note just for the diagnostic exam (I beleive that's one hour long), or does it include 1 evening session? Many evening sessions?? -Stryder

The grand includes the exam, the lecture and as many panel discussions you wish to attend (They are monthly gatherings of TMS success patients who tell their stories and answer questions.) I've also called him a couple of times and he always gets back to you.

Please keep in mind that in New York ,a grand isn't 'a grand'....it's like what maybe $350 bucks might be anywhere else in the world. My Brother is an Exec for ESPN and has a'really, really great rental' in NYC...a 12'x12' room in Alphabet city(famous Heroin scoring neighborhood) for 'a grand' a month.Has to commute to Ct. every day,but doesn't want to give up his 'great deal'.

I would have paid a grand to see Sarno before I recovered....problem with his work is..it's too effective. Most of his patients get better before they see him.I contacted the one LA Doc he mentioned in HBP when I was recovering, but still had those demonic little lingering doubts. He was on vacation, and by the time he got back,I was back at work.

I imagine TMS doc's get a LOT of cancellations.

To reply to anxo69's last post - if you really want to see him, I'd keep trying. Just call again and say you are from upstate NY but you can easily travel to NYC. I believe he's in his office M, Tu, W mornings and that's when he returns calls. Also, he has panel discussions on Tue evenings at 6. I got him once in his office between 4 and 6 on Tue when he was waiting around for his panel to begin. Don't give up!

Many people take vacations around the holidays.

Ask yourself, what do you expect from seeing Dr. Sarno? Most people are able to accurately diagnose TMS for themselves by reading the books. Dr. Sarno will not tell you anything that you cannot get from the books.

If you're read the books and are really doing the work, and still do not have results, you should not expect a miracle by seeing Dr. Sarno. He will just reinforce what you already know.

If you truly feel you cannot get better without seeing the good doctor, then perhaps you are really just procrastinating and haven't really jumped head first into acceptance, and most importantly, doing the things that Dr. Sarno suggests in his books.
