Hello everyone,

Just popping in to ask for some help. I have a patient for whom anxiety has been the predominant cause of her TMS symptoms. I believe that I had seen references to a book or two that people on this board had found very helpful for anxiety but I cannot remember the names. If someone could kindly get me the name of the book(s) it would be much appreciated. Thanks.

Hi Dr Fatteh

Any of the books by the late Dr Claire Weekes. They were written in the 1960s and the language she uses can sound a bit dated at times, but her advice is second to none.

Rick Carson's 'Taming Your Gremlin' - I found it amazingly helpful. If your patient can laugh at her/himself, it's well worth mentioning. I read it around eighteen months ago and I still find my mind jumps to Carson's advice when anxiety rears its head.

Books by both authors are available from Amazon - I think they are sent within 24 hours.

Best wishes

Anne

Claire Weekes' "Hope and Help for Your Nerves" is really a wonderful book. The language may seem a little "old fashioned" but some of the concepts and suggestions are amazingly useful.

Throw in my vote as well for Claire Weekes.

She has several books out on anxiety - one specifically dealing with agorophobia. Her books have literally saved my life.
