Hello - this is my first post. I am looking for a TMS psychologist/psychiatrist (I actually forgot the difference) in the SF Bay Area. Does anyone know of anyone they can recommend?

A little background on me: I have been dealing with TMS, for a long time successfully, for more than 10 years. I am a triathlete and former competitive cyclist who for more than 10 years stopped doing what I loved most: riding a bike. For the past 3 or so years I have been riding again - not pain free in all cases, but riding and loving it. The past 3 months of so, however, have been full of pain. Mostly in the knee and shoulder and I have been off my bike and out of the pool for a long time. I am struggling to figure out what is going on but the fear of pain and activity is back. Even though I know I need to think non-strucutural it is hard to think that someone who works out as much as I do would not get "injured." Anyway, it's all very complicated (in my head at least) and I think I could really benefit from talking to someone.

Thanks!

Dr. Fatteh, who sometimes posts on this forum, has offices in Hayward and San Ramon.

See his qualifications here:

Ralph - thanks for the info. Have you actually seen Dr. Fatteh or know of anyone who has specific experience with him? Any more info would be greatly appreciated.

I have also inquired about Dr. Fatteh on this board with no response. You might call his office and ask for referrals. It is my recollection, however, that he is not a psychologist but a physician. Good luck.
