Just thought I'd share a little bit of my adventures with my ball of the foot injury aka metatarsalgia aka tms.
I went for a 4 mile run yesterday afternoon and when I got back the thing was throbbing and aching to beat the band..Benign I kept repeating to myself....benign...benign..benign..It's actually the perfect word in its way..very comforting in its meaning and in its associations.
LO and behold, later on the evening the pain just went away, as if it had all been some bad (though utterly benign of course) nightmare.
But you can't get too cozy with this TMS stuff. This a.m. I took the doggies for a walk and there was the foot pain again. My plan had been to go kickbiking which historically has been very bad for the foot and there was just no way I wasn't going to go.
And once again, the pain is gone, at least for now...
A little later in the day I got an e-mail from my father who wants me to edit this book he's self-publishing..A huge, huge undertaking (you'd know what I meant if you ever got a look at my old man's prose). It's not so much that he did ask, it's the way he asked. Ah well, you know how fathers can be.
So I'm chewing that over while putting air into the tires on my mountain bike (yes, many bikes at chez Art)and suddenly, while trying to twist off the air nozzle cap I suddenly got this sprained muscle in my chest..Even in the old days I might have questioned how the heck I could possibly strain a pec my twisting off this little tiny cap, but now that I'm becoming more enlightened as to the ways and means of TMS, I'm not even going to begin to start sweating it.
Altogether now.
IT'S BENIGN!!
