Posted - 08/31/2008 : 02:01:17 I am ready to tackle my symptoms or expand the things I can do. I know I have to take step that I ,in my mind, can handle. Motivate myself do the task without worrying as much as I can and if I get pain I should not fight it but let go off worry and attention of the pain.So far so good.
The thing I am not sure about is what to do if I do that much so that my pain goes over my boundaries and expands. What usually happens is that I get scared and do far less than I did before so that I hope to get rid of the new area of pain which sometimes works and other times it stays as my basic symptoms. So what should I do? I know that I should not worry and let it go but what about the next day ? Should I do the new task which gave me a lot of pain again and not chicken out . Or should I do a smaller new task and keep on going ? Or should I do no new task? And if I keep not worrying and letting go whatever I do will the expanding symptoms go eventually instead of spreading out even more ? I need some reassurance.

Posted - 08/31/2008 : 09:15:54 I'd try a smaller task and keep going, if I were you. That lets your mind know that you are not going to be discouraged, without making you repeat what happened.
The main thing is not to give in to fear, more than what you choose to do afterward. Recognize this as a part of the TMS recovery process with thoughts like "Gee, I went a bit overboard and reactivated my conditioning. Too bad. Guess I need to try things a little slower," rather than "Oh my gosh! Pain! Something's really wrong with me!"
Do what feels right to you. It took a while to get like this. If it takes you a while to defeat the conditinoning and get back to full capability, that's not entirely surprising, and still at the end you will be fully well.
