Posted - 03/16/2006 : 13:36:15 last week i progressed to sprinting, after doing 4 weeks of road running i felt confident of going a little faster............before the sprints i was worrying about my hamstrings being ok(which is the main source of my pain) after doing ten sprints the hamstrings were fine, but my left thigh had tighten up alot and was very sore later that day and is still bothering me slightly a week later. do you think this could be tms changing it's locations or simply a pulled muscle.................i have been consantly aware of it and thinking too much about it which i know also does not help!

Posted - 03/17/2006 : 10:45:58 I think you are right-you are worrying about it too much, what Dr.Schecter calls "hypervigilance". I had back and neck pain, but when my back would get better, I would get a hamstring pull, or a groin pull, or a sore foot. I sometimes use a technique from Monte Heuftle's book, when I am thinking about a small pain here or there, I instead think about my footsteps, or my breath, or spreading my toes as they hit the ground. I have done this when I have had a tight calf, and after a few minutes of this distraction, the pain has completely gone. It's like you mind says,"This isn't working, maybe I'll give him a canker sore later, instead."and the pain stops. |
