Quick question here.

When one says "I'm 80% pain free" what does that mean?

You can see my perfectionism in the question.

Objectively, I would have a numbered list as Dr. Sarno suggests on p.143 of DM (Divided Mind). As these manifestations vanish, I would check that item off the list and do the math. But, alas, I have not done this. Perhaps I should. So, if I listed 100 nasty items dredged from my "basement" and 80 of them right now no longer exist, then I can claim to be 80% pain free (for that moment, hour, day...).

Subjectively, I feel great today, yet the few kinks here and there...well...how to quantify them?

Why worry, right?

I believe trying to measure or quantify the level of symptoms is counterproductive.

It is important to take a long-term view and not try to measure progress. Recovery is full of ups and downs, and everyone has a different timeline.

Trust that if you do the work, over time the symptoms will fade on their own.
