I saw Dr. Martinez in Dedham, MA today. He was very nice, knew a lot about the TMS stuff as it relates to me and looked at my MRIs and said they not support any structural causes for my back/neck spasms and pain. I also asked him about my wrists and he said it's not DeQuervain's tendinitis, it's just TMS pain radiating from my upper arm to my wrist. He said to keep up what I'm doing, which is working the program (reading, journaling, and getting back to running and my normal activities, all of which I have already started five weeks ago). He said to see him in six weeks for a follow up. So, on with the program, as I have been doing for over a month. He also said in my case, since I was abused as a child, the psycho therapy is a good idea, which I already started. I think overall the appt. went as I expected it to go; he confirmed what I already knew and just said keep up the progress. Happy Friday everyone! |

Did seeing the TMS doc reinforce all of it enough that you have seen an improvement since you saw him? I keep thinking that maybe I should go see one for that reason. |

Excellent..
I never wanted to say anything before,as a few people on this board(polly, molomaf) did have real things that needed to be addressed, however when you explained that dequervain thing a ma bob,it sounded like RSI which equals TMS.....
Now,back to work!!
peace
Oh yeah, for res...I too wanted to see a TMS doc to be certain my TMS was TMS...I looked up the only TMS doctor in Los Angeles at the time, and he was on vacation.
So,I just plodded along thinking I'd see him if it didn't get better...I never saw him because I was better before he got back.

Res and others, No, seeing the TMS doc did not provide any relief to speak of. It only confirmed what I already knew, which is that I have TMS. It did provide me with a repudiation of the wrist tendinitis though. So basicly it was a reaffirming type visit for me. Nothing is different as far as TMS symptoms, but then again it's only been since Friday. Maybe I'll notice more as I plod on. As Baseball said, back to work on myself! |

Maryalma8,
Glad that your visit with Dr. M. went well. He is a nice guy and knowledgable about TMS. He is "training" some of the other Drs. at the Hospital about TMS.
Like you, the appt. did not bring me any real relief. It has been over a month since I saw him and I cannot tell you that I have had any great improvement....I just keep working at it. I will see him again in a week or so.
