Mala, have you read SteveO's great TMS book, "THE GREAT PAIN DECEPTION", if you haven't I highly recommend you do, I think you would get to a new depth of TMS understanding, hope and belief from it.

Cheers,

TT ,

Yes I got it when it first came out. It was a good read and I do thumb thru it from time to time.

I got confused when I read how Steve pushed thru his back pain by forcing himself to sit thru it & also then by hitting thousands and thousands of golf balls and then others here said we shouldn't be doing that !

Everyones journey is different I guess.

That's the problem with message boards, you get information that may be wrong, it's no better then listening to people in a hot-tub. I would trust what SteveO says, he wrote the book and it's in keeping with what all the other TMS books say. E-mail him, he has been very generous with his time. He is starting to also do phone consults.

YOU need to get UNCONFUSED about TMS--you are NOCEBOED.

What's weird about this place, is that when people like SteveO and Nicole Sachs come here to help they have had the welcome mat pulled out from under them and derided by a small but vocal group who's subconscious felt so threatened by the TMS TRUTH they ran them off.

(BOILERPLATE: This is the TMS FORUM and questions are answered from a TMS perspective. On the chance it's structural see a doc.)

Mala, I learned from my husband first hand that ignoring the pain and just doing the activity is very effective. About 10 years ago he recovered from excruciating sciatica by going running. At first, it was only around the block. But then more.
HIs was just like Steve O describes in his book. He continues to get some symptoms from time to time, but just tells it to stop, just like Dr. Sarno describes.
He does not journal or anything else.
I agree with TT. The books from Dr. Sarno and others are the best sources of healing.
I am afraid that the board can be another form of huge distraction.
I do find reinforcement in success stories.
Good luck.

Towards the end there are bits on the sympathetic/parasympathetic , narcissistic personality, hormone balancing etc
