It’s human nature to believe what someone in authority tells us. Bad health news from medical professionals really can be bad news seeds that sew pain in our body’s and mind's garden. Steve Ozanich devotes Chapter 8 of his book The Great Pain Deception to “Planting the Seeds, Growing the Pain – Who is the Gardener?” Join the call-in discussion group this Tuesday, when we'll be talking about this chapter and the power of belief. Phone lines will open half an hour early so you can talk to hosts and early callers.

Good TMS chat last night Eric, you and Forest should open a TMS RADIO NETWORK talk show. I was having some technical difficulties (Verizon works great everywhere but where I live) so couldn't contribute much. SteveO's Chapter 8 is a great one! His last paragraph on Page 151 is at the core of TMS:
================================================================
"Addressing these competing stimuli is Dr. Sarno's point, 'As long as he (the sufferer) is in any way preoccupied with what his body is doing, the pain will continue.' The idea is to focus on something other then the body--some competing stimulus, such as a new life-goal. Emmett Miller, M.D. refers to this as 'changing the channel on pain.' Competing stimuli diverts the brain rendering it unable to process the sensation of pain. Any acupuncture, therapy, manipulation, or surgery merely takes the focus off the pain for a brief time, and redirects it to the current activity by guiding the mind away from the sensation of pain--confusing the individual into believing that these other procedures are the source of their healing. This is why identifying a sense of purpose in life, and refusing to feel like a victim, eases pain. Find a way to turn your obsession toward an activity that you love and focus on it, and the pain will slowly leave, as this new, more productive obsession becomes the competing stimulus."

Yea I knew you were having some difficulties. We did miss your presence, im sure it'll go well next week Are you going to be there? It is getting better by the week since we have such great callers.
You know tom your right
that paragraph from Steves chapter 8 sums it all up. When we decide to get our focus back to living life with purpose and get our hearts set on what we really want to do in life We tend to get well and with great results.
This paragraph has the cure, I know you have this book down and man the life and freedom it brings to know getting your focus on living is a powerful antidote to anything
Thanks Tom
