i m 37 years - female very emotional and extremely empathic..people pleaser too I m suufering from difficulty in walking since 7 years when i was pregnant 4 months...no pain...MRI brain n spine ok..calcium vit d ok...but difficulty n stiffness in walking...pls. help
one more thing...i conceived with much difficulty..and doctor told me complete bedrest....since then i developed this fear
Stiffness and difficulty has never stopped anyone from walking. There are scores of people with true handicaps who walk daily through pain, with canes, crutches, prostatic limbs. Search YouTube for stories of guys without legs who walk on their hands.
You're like the rest of us. Your problem is your fear. You said it yourself. Search Balto and Hillbilly's posts here. Visit anxietycentre.com. Read Claire Weekes. Work with a behavioral therapist that can help you lose your fear.
Just my opinion... your problem has zero to do with your body, walking or anything else. You frightened yourself during pregnancy and were traumatized. Walking is one of the most liberating things you can do. Work on the fear itself. Don't get bogged down on where it came from.
Understand that the human mind can be a perverse organ in that we're often driven to fulfill our own greatest fears....
I have a neighbor who several years ago began having trouble walking. My wife and I figured she must have MS or some such debilitating illness. I gave her a ride one day when I saw her inching down the road in tremulous, heartbreaking fashion and came right out and asked her. She surprised me with her insight and candor. "I've just become afraid of falling."
She's become so afraid of falling that she actually does fall sometimes. This winter she fell in the street and an ambulance had to be called as she was too terrified to get up.

1: You've been medically cleared.
2: You've found your way to this forum.
Which is all great news. Very rarely do people get here mistakenly. If you've not read the many books our there on TMS and psychosomatic pain and illness, please do. If you have, it's time to put what you've learned into action. Odds are overwhelming that fear is at the bottom of your difficulties.
Another good example of how we often create the very things we're most worried about. I have a friend about my age who developed prostate problems. We were on the golf course one day and I noticed that every other hole he'd disappear into the woods to pee. At the time I was having lots of fears around getting older and I had the thought "Boy, I hope that doesn't happen to me."
A few days later I noticed I was "having trouble with my stream" as the doctors like to put it. Of course this terrified me. This went on for a while and I began to think about it. "Wait a minute. This is one hell of a coincidence that I start having problems almost the moment I began to worry about just this thing."
Since I'm a long time TMS'er I had the sudden insight that this was just another psychosomatic manifestation of my own anxieties. No sooner did I have the realization than I was back to my old self..."pissing like a racehorse" as they say. (don't know who "they" are exactly, but someone must be saying it :-)
It's quite likely your difficulty walking is driven by the same dynamics. Since it's such a fundamental activity obviously. I'd give serious consideration to seeing a therapist schooled in these matters. Or you can certainly get better with the info in the books and with help from the good people on this forum.
