I first want to say how awesome several of the posts are on here right now..I am feeling a connection to everyone again that I haven't felt in awhile..Thank you..:)
I am ripe for TMS to grab hold of me for reasons I stated in my other post "core issues." I was hoping I could stop it, but it doesn't seem to be working too well..I am frustrated that I cannot seem to get a grip on it this time..

This all started w/ a real and bad ankle injury from one month ago..There is some atrophy in the leg from both this injury and 3 previous knee injuries..so the quadricip is smaller in this leg and feels weaker..Monday I worked out on machines and voila, knee pain 2 hrs later..very bad and sharp intermittent pain that happens even while just sitting quietly..Yet, there is no warmth in my knee, no visable swelling and I can bend/straighten the leg..I have had previous injuries there which is a perfect spot for TMS to rear it's ugly head..I am also, however, having bad low back pain too..same side (right)..and pain now going into the quadricip which feels like it's coming from my back..So now I am wondering 'did i hurt my back doing the weight machines and the pain in the knee is referred pain?' OR...is it just TMS AGAIN!

It is really starting to drain and get to me and I hate taking advil (hurts my stomach) but I have no choice..My neck is also tight as can be and i just feel like a mess...Turns out that I may have to move Again! The woman I am living w/ put on a great act when she showed me the place..it was clean, she was nice, etc..Well.....you should see it now? And she drinks vodka every night and i froze my butt off all Winter because she kept the heat at 55. Now I am concerned i am going to be hot in the Summer, same reason..she wants to save money..She is toxic and doesn't like anyone..probably because she doesn't like herself..So...I am back at it..looking for a better place for myself and my 143 lb wolfdog..very tough to manifest..Yes, I am stressed to the max about this and about my finances, in general..having to spend out of pocket for the physical therapy of my ankle..An acupuncturist is doing a trade w/ me for one of my paintings..so that is a positive thing..

I am waiting to hear about a job i applied for as well..This is soooo frustrating..B4 the ankle, I was POWER WALKING and working out in the gym! I just want to be better again..and I am scared that something really is wrong in my back or knee..I have to convince myself it is TMS and I have to calm down because I know better..Thank God for my phone friends and the few I have in this state..Anyway..sorry for the long post..I don't want to take away from any other posts they are all so good..I don't even know what I am asking here..suggestions, understanding, empathy, etc..I suppose..Or maybe this is a form of journaling for me..All I know is that I feel frustrated and frightened..and I just want the pain to Stop already..
HUgs to all,
Karen

Sweet girl, be gentler with yourself. I believe you make a valid point when you suggest posting here is a form of journaling and in your voice I hear the emotions that ramp tms. My pain levels are also freaky at the moment but I choose to view this positively. I'm engaged in industrial emotional archaeology so little wonder. By the sounds of things you're going through the mill too. Have you read the healing keys posted by Ace1? They are a brilliant distillation of healing wisdom and quite the tonic. Mostly though, give yourself a break. Rest. Sleep. Be calm. From me to you I send love.

Karen,

Suggestions:

Sunbeam heated mattress pads are great for keeping the bed warm.

Forget the acupuncture, it's a waste of your trade money, it's voo-doo and you are the voo-doo doll. It's only good for a brief period of relaxation. I had over two hundred of them and did nothing for healing. Get massages instead if you need relaxation at least you can get something out of them. I personally know two acupuncturists and they both have constant injuries, one asking me about knee replacement in the hot-tub, I t old her to read Sarno and google "failed knee surgery".

Your ankle will probably heal just as well on it's own without having to pay for PT. Do a few exercises for it if you want like doing the "alphabet" with your foot, but time is the key to healing real injuries, you can't rush mother nature. Did you get a Coban bandage like I advised you to?

Work out in a pool.

Hey Tom,
Good advice, thanks buddy..:) I am not wearing a bandage anymore..The brace was weakening the ankle/leg too much..So I am able to walk around (slowly) with nothing on it..So i didn't get the Coban bandage yet..I figured once i am well enough to play tennis, ping pong again I should probably wear the brace for added protection..Massage would be good..My muscles are crazy tight..And I am going to exercise in the pool..I sit on one of those noodle things and do bicycle kicks in the pool while using my arms too..It's like swimming in a way..:)
Thanks again,
K

I would get the Coban bandage, it's only about $5 and would keep you from spraining it again while exercising. I've mentioned it a number of times to you, why don't you try it? I've sprained my ankle numerous times and know something about this stuff. I don't know what kind of "brace" you're talking about, if it's one of those neoprene wet suit material things it won't do as much the Coban bandage, if it's one of those boots or lace up things, they will limit your ability to exercise. If you really want to do exercise like tennis, then trainer's taping is the best thing, but you have to do that for each event. The Coban is a good inbetweener, that's what an orthopedist put on me after a severe sprain and I've kept them in my tennis bag for emergencies ever since.
