If you have an open email address on the forum watch out for scams from the Ivory coast. I got one today and happily my email spamer picked it up.

Does anyone know if you have to have a login to gain access to other peoples email? If so this might mean we have a scam artist lurking here.

I'll cc. Dave with this post.

Hi Plum, You are correct, I see you are doing well,

This is what Dave said, we are safe from lurkers!

Dave quote:
"E-mail addresses are never exposed on the website. If you use the website to send E-mail to another member, it is done anonymously; the recipient does not see your E-mail address.

However, some people do include their E-mail addresses in their posts, which can be harvested by SPAM robots. For those who want to make their E-mail address public, I suggest to use the form "user AT domain.com" so that it will not be picked up by the search engines."

Thanks Andy, I got it too. I must say, I'm greatly disappointed that there's a chance I won't be getting $4.5 million, from the Liberian princess because I'm such a nice guy.

If for example Plum sends me an email, I see her emailaddress... I don't see how this can be set in the profile page so I think it shows up with all members when they send an email(??)... maybe someone could try to send me an email to investigate further..

Evidently it's someone who has joined. There are 138 pages of members and my best guess is they're hitting active and/or top posters. As gigalos points out, you only see the addy if someone has mailed you and my spam-scam came via the forum link. What kind of dullard do you have to be to waste time with this ****. Note to idiot, log out and play down your own end.

I just got one today, it says it came from forum member john10 who joined today. I'm not a top poster and haven't posted for years. I've never given my email address on the board but do have my profile set to "allow members to send you an email". When done through the forum presumably your email address is hidden.

Just got the same email and I haven't posted in long time, came on here to see whats up. I just have mine set for members to email me. Guess we need to get rid of his membership!

Same thing john10.

While I am here, hello everyone. I am doing pretty well, and have tons of energy from doing NIA these days!

I had checked the spam part of my email account and found this...
Sent From TMSHelp Forum by john10.

I've never listed my email address in any post on this forum either. So I edited my profile to say -no- private emails. He had to have signed up here. Hope Dave gets rid of this of scammer.
