Had a unpleasant dream after a long time, someone who is very close to me, was yelling at me wildly in the dream. As soon as I got up, the headache started. In fact I wrote sometime back in one of my topics saying that I no longer get headache for months, stopped Advil, etc.
Geez... The pain was horrible, with usual drums beat. The pain was near center back of the head where the spine originates (medulla oblongata?) and later moved to top of my head, pounding. I tried reaffirmations, diaphragm breathing, not focusing, ignoring, etc.. Ultimately, the "Id" mind won over my "super ego". At the end, it forced me take 2 Advils, no effect.. The pain stopped after several hours.
Interestingly, this was the last topic I read before I got my headache back, where Avik wrote about Advil. http://www.tmshelp.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=8162

If anyone doubts that dreams can appear to be so real that they actually can bring about physiological changes, then they have not experienced morning wood.
How can we stop dreaming about something is a good question and I would be interested in such an answer myself. I had a strange dream also last night which, upon awakening, reminded me of several scenarios from my past including being led on by someone and then being later mistaken over the person's intentions and, as a result, feeling very hurt, confused and disillusioned. |

I could see a difference between disturbing dreams that wakes us "rudely" from sleep (type 1 severe?). The 2nd type, though unpleasant, little mild, we ignore and continue to sleep, get up normally in the morning, and then think about it later in the day, get worried, may lead to gradual TMS pain manifestation.
This really baffles me - Why all the calming techniques, affirmations, etc failed, and forced me taking Advil? |

As a German I didn't know the meaning of "morning wood" and googled it...nice pictures
I also experienced unpleasant dreams with pain and - when I woke up -the pain stood with me for hours. Very annoying but also fascinating!
Kind regards from Germany sends Birdie |

LOL Birdie78. If we are going to start discussing morning wood then we will have to make this forum x-rated. |

If someone mentions "morning glory" in any of the posts in the future, don't google. It is synonymous with the one you already googled.

This statement is bit confusing to me. Are you saying, that anything we dream about on physical changes affects the libido indirectly? |

I am just saying that a dream can bring about physiological changes in the body and I used erotic dreams as one example. I think our minds cannot really tell the difference between a dream and reality. For example, you dream of a wild animal chasing you and you wake up just before it reaches you and your heart is beating and you are filled with fright as it appears to be so real. Of course, when you come to full consciousness you realize that it was just a dream, but for those few moments it seemed to very real. |
