10. Work on the mental strain by deconditioning through the use of mind power, mostly affirmations and good self talk.

My main affirmations were "I take my time, forgive and let go easily" and "I'm calm relaxed, patient and confident". I also really like "I am always easy on myself".

It is helpful to think of the meaning of the words and imagine what it would feel like to be that way as you say them.

Do mind power on an as needed basis (when having symptoms or psychologically bothered) and around sleep (5 min for each affirmation or visualization before and after sleep). You may be doing this all day at first. You also have to be consistent with this on an everyday basis. THIS WAS THE MOST IMPORTANT PART OF MY RECOVERY.

Other mind power techniques I also used but not as consistently were visualizations. One visualization I used was imaging myself immersed in white water with the white water representing calmness. Another one is imagining yourself in a very peaceful place - I did this when I was in situations where it was more difficult to relax.

What a great key this is. It seems quite a few of us have recognised this mental strain in ourselves. I certainly have and I didn't realise how much it was adding to the whole toxic pain cocktail. It really is a vicious cycle.

Standing beside myself for a moment, it's shocking to see how bound-up and serious I've become. What nonsense. I used to be a breezy, lighthearted girl. I miss her. I'm going to float around my psyche till she pops up and joins me on this fluffy white cloud. There I go, floating...floating...floating.

Today, I sent out an apology to two discussion lists I was on asking them for my forgiveness for any negative and inappropriate comments I made and which hurt and offended many people. I am trying to seek release from all this bitterness and negativity which has built up inside me over the years for it is not serving any positive purpose but rather is contributing to my suffering.

Don't worry Shawn you are perfectly curable and will be cured just keep at it and let go more. Don't even worry about the symptoms, when they are there don't challenge them and be easy on yourself until you now learn how to function in life in a non strained manner.

This is the most important key. I cannot emphasize this more. It seems like the thing that is least important but it is the most important. The way they work by reprogramming is so subtle that it happens so gradually so subtly that you can't even say for sure that they are what helped but trust me they are the biggest help. They are tools like shovels when trying to dig a ditch. Imagine trying to dig a ditch with you hands, you may not get very far but with the shovel you can make faster, more efficient progress. You however must have the goal of going to dig a ditch (analogous to having the goal to achieve mental relaxation). In other words, if you say affirmations and not try to live the life of decreased strain( listed in my other keys), I doubt you'll make much progress.
In a previous post I listed how affirmations work and I will repost below.
Affirmations have three functions in which they help: 1. Help you recognize your strain better. 2. Decrease the frequency of the strain. 3. Help you be able to reverse the effects strain that has already occured easier.

if you dont learn good self talk around sleep (5 min for each affirmation or visualization before and after sleep).-you will, this is about what your thinking all day-a powerful cure to any mind illness, and pain-
yes think of the words-the emotions the words represent and the feelings those emotions represent.then get up and walk and work in that powrful conditioned state.at first just neurons will be stimulated but as the days go by your body will start to respond.imageing the words is as powerful as doing them , the mind knows no difference.and when you see your self as healed in those images and eventually visualizations then it wont be long before your well on your way to being cured.we have to remeber how powerful negative is but most important and powerful the positive is.its not just positive thoughts, its positve on purpose on a course to be conditioned and actualized.we have to think of the way we would feel if we were healed, we wont get it without it.

we have to remember its the small steps that get us to that one huge step-we have to start somewhere and the 5 minutes at a time is perfect-like ace said, it was the most important pt in his recovery and really anyone that heals will have gone down this rd in a form or fashion. i didnt at first when i jumped to around 80 percent and i knew i was on my way-but i know aces discovery helped alot their at the end.
visualizations is great at anytime-for me i had to learn them later in the game
now i visualize what i want and see it in my mind and then feel it then it aint long if i stay congruent with my phisiologies that i attain my desired outcome.

I have recently begun to double down on these before bed when I am the most vulnerable to stress and negative thoughts and emotions. It is at this time when I have the most trouble believing them (the affirmations and positive self talk), but I think that is just a conditioned response to my nighttime anxiety. It seems to be helping a lot.
