Hello everyone. Last evening, I couldn't sleep so I went down to my living room to watch a bit of tv. Well, lo & behold, there was a replay of a recent Dr Oz episode concerning the topic of inflammation. He had an "expert" on telling us how to go about reducing inflammation in our lives. The "expert" went on with advice on what to eat, how to exercise, how to meditate, etc. After that segment was over, he brought on another "expert" on how to deal with chronic pain. That's when I perked up. I had heard that Dr Oz has been a proponent of mind-body medicine & it's ideologies. I was waiting to hear if he or the "expert" were going to bring up TMS. Alas, all they talked about was some new, fangled, topical cream that he & his family have used for years that basically takes away all of their pain. The old me would've jumped up off the couch, written down the name of the cream & rushed out to the drug store that very morning. I now know better. Suffice to say, I was a little disappointed but not totally shocked by the lack of attention shown to the TMS theories. When will the main stream media give even a morsel of coverage to the positive in-roads made by Sarno, Sopher, Miller, Amir, Schubiner, Ozanich, etc. Anyway, I'm sorry that this post doesn't really have any redeeming value on how to slay the TMS beast. I just felt like venting. Thanks for your time & I wish all of you success on getting your lives back. Take care. |

Hi barberboy, It's good to vent - don't repress!
Dr. Oz is a nice guy, he brings hope to a lot of people. He has every topic imaginable on his program. Some of the topics actually clash on the same program.
Mind body is not main stream and possibly never will be, (in my lifetime I’m 64). We on this forum are very lucky to have found a place like this, and the talent that is here, it’s all you need.

Dr. Oz is known as "Dr. Poop". His favorite topic is fecal matter. He is also an alarmist and I only watch his show if it looks like something I'd be interested in and not about poop.
Dr. Oz is quoted on the front cover of Dr. Sarno's book, "The Divided Mind"... "Dr. Sarno brilliantly explores the chasm between the conscious and unconscious minds, where psychosomatic ailments originate." -Mehmet Oz, M.D., coauthor of You: The Owner's Manual. I have been waiting for years for him to cover this subject matter or even have Dr. Sarno on his show. But he never has and instead talks about topical creams and poop!
Glad you posted this, barberboy.

So:
So far we have Dr Oz, who is supposedly a proponent of mind body medicine, is a robot, who airs every topic available, like’s poop and topical creams. Any more takers?
TMSer’s are humorists too.

Oz is a cardiothoracic surgeon, arguably one of the world's best. He should stick to what he knows and does best instead of dabbling in the New Age nonsense he promotes on his TV show and in his books. It seems as though his Wharton MBA has been arm-wrestling with his MD degree and the former has won out. |
