Hi everyone. It's me again. So I'm still in Thailand. I have increased myactivity levels even though I still have pain. Yesterday I walked some 6 kilometers. I still have neck pain & back pain seems to have increased as a result of walking a lot. I seem to wake up every night covered in sweat feeling very nauseous at least once. This has been going on a while.
I'm stiill not able to eat much. Very small portions. Yesterday I had a coffee & half a sandwich for lunch. At around 7 pm when i came back I lay down for a while to rest my muscles & suddenly felt reall y sick like I wanted to throw up. There seemed to be a lot of acid in my tummy. 3 times during the night I woke up drenched in sweat feeling really sick & then it would pass.
I have been looking up symptoms of menopause which is of course very much a result of changes in hormones & muscle soreness & pain & digestive problems seem to be among the list of symptoms.
Any thoughts?
Thx

When you mentioned night sweats my first thought was menopause. I don't know how old you are, but I've gone through menopause with two gf's and night sweats are a major symptom.
Why do they call it menopause, shouldn't it be womenopause? Good you're being active, I'm just reading SteveO's book around page 100, where he makes his major breakthrough, becoming active again, after being at the bottom of the TMS well. The Nike slogan, "Just Do It!", became his mantra. If you've got his book, read around page 100 and "JUST KEEP DOING IT!".
For symptomatic relief of the night sweats, see the recent "Hot Feet Thread". I placed a link there to an under-sheet bed fan on the cover of the current Brookstone Catalog for $99 that would be helpful.
G'luck

Hi Mala
I can definitely identify with night sweats, but mine are not just isolated to during the night. I can have these sweating episodes at any time. And yes it does make me feel nauseous, but not to the extent that I have been put off my food.
According to my GP I should be through the menopause now, but the sweats can linger around for quite a while after. I'm sometimes not sure whether they're connected to my pain, or the menopause, as they're particularly bad when the pain is at it's worst.
SteveO mentions in his book that during stressful periods in life the autonomic nervous system can over-regulate itself and result in profuse sweating. It's definitely a TMS symptom, so I'm putting it down to TMS from now on.
The upset tummy could also be down to TMS, but if you're worried about it, I would go see the doc if it doesn't settle down soon.
Hope you feel better soon. |

TT -menopause as in end of menstruation not men .
I'm 54 chronologically, feel like 80 & look like 40- ok maybe 42.
I actually finished StevO's book before I left HK but I do remember the 'just do it' line.
That fan thing looks real good but I doubt they'll deliver to HK. Even if they did, shipping would cost more than the fan itself but I'll have a look around when I'm back in HK.
Thx & take care. Mala

Hiya Cath. I had my last period around 4 years ago but I guess the body has a mind of its own and yes it's related to the pain. It's somehow all connected. I think the upset tummy is a result of the stress from the pain & all the worry & fretting too.
I went to have my bone density checked today and also gave some blood to check hormones. My doc also suggested a urine test by which they can check the rate at which calcium is leaving the body so that they can ascertain the rate at which bone mass is decreasing. Will get results in a couple of days.
Hope you are feeling better.
Take care Mala

Here's a link to the fan, it's probably made in China, like everything else on the planet and may be closer to you then from here:

I play tennis with a lady who's probably in her mid-seventies, (been too afraid to ask), is amazing in every way and said she still gets occasional night sweats.
Why do they call it menstruation, seems like it should be called womenstruation?
G'luck, JUST KEEP DOING IT! |

Try not to "looking up" too much Mala. If you have a health concern, clear it with your doctor. Don't look, don't guess, don't search,... just believe in yourself, keep doing your tms programs, stay away from Google. Just keep saying: it is just tms, I will get better.

Here is another suggestion, one of my MBM teacher taught me, it is call the MBM 3-10 method: - Look in the mirror in the morning and tell yourself 10 times: I will be happy, relax, and at peace today. - Sit with a glass of your favorite drink in the afternoon and write down 10 things that you feel blessed about in your life, your day... - take out that blessed list and review it 10 times right before you close your eyes to sleep. Say a prayer and be thankful for what you got, relive those wonderful memories. Then tell yourself 10 times: Have a good night Mala, tonight it will be peaceful.
In about 5 days time you will sleep restfully. Our mind is like our living room, you bring it flower, you will enjoy its fragant, you dump trash in it, it will smell bad.
He is able who thinks he is able. Buddha
If you think peaceful thoughts you will have a peacful mind.
Goodluck and have fun in LOS.

Hi Mala
I stopped menstruating (or womenstruating for TT) 4 years ago too (now 53). That's also when my pain began, so I too feel there is a connection. I did have some very stressful events in my life just prior, but menopause just added to that stress.
I hope your tests come back OK, and your tummy settles down soon.
I'm going to take some of Balto's advice and start counting my blessings.

TT menstruation from the the Latin word menses which means monthly. Nothing to to with men in this case .
