I hear you loud and clear. I keep finding myself seduced, too, by things like massage techniques with scientific explanations (some would say pseudo) and claimed phenomenal success rates; nutritional approaches; posture exercises; and the like. I know I must discard these but I find it VERY HARD to find the confidence to do so. I say confidence, because I think it does take confidence to dismiss highly respected medical professionals telling you they KNOW you have x y and z. And when one is in chronic pain, at least for me anyhow, it's hard to find that confidence. |

Pspa123. It's not just the esteemed health professionals I'm doing battle with, it's also close family, who just don't understand, or buy into the TMS theory of my health problems being psychological. And they're the ones that I find most difficult to dismiss, because of course, I value their opinions.
I know my pain gets worse in stressful situations. But it's not just the things you would normally associate with being "stressful", it's also situations which are out of my routine, or are "emotionally charged", like a family dinner, which BP (before pain), I would just find enjoyable, and look forward to. I just don't understand it sometimes. |
