I was helped by Dr. Sarno's teachings and cured myself of chronic back pain many years ago. How do you get someone to read Healing Back Pain, or to even contemplate that they may have TMS, when they refuse to even listen to you or read any books you may suggest. I have a friend who has chronic pain/back pain, depression and anxiety. She will not read Healing Back Pain or any other books by Dr. Sarno. She is convinced that her pain is physiologic and that nothing will help. She goes from one doc to the next, gets steroidal injections, tries different pharmaceuticals, and she just gets worse. She takes offense when I try to suggest there is a mind body connection. Sooo frustrating..

It's a thankless mission; don't even try. The two folks who introduced me to Dr. Sarno's work went into denial when I suggested to them that their present complaints might be TMS.
