Hey Everyone,
The drop-in chats on Saturday are going really great, and part of what makes them so successful is that we have a great group of moderators that help answer people’s questions. If any of you would be interested in moderating a session every once in awhile, let me know. We would love to have you on board.
All it entails is moderating one chat session a month or every other month. Moderators don’t have to answer every question, they just need to be present for the sessions and welcome newcomers. You do not need to be fully recovered to be a moderator either. All you need is a desire to help people and share your story. For more information check out: Drop-in Chat Moderator.
Moderating the drop-in chat is a great way to help other people and give back. Let me know if you are interested in doing it. If you have any questions feel free to ask.
Best,
Forest

I'm not far enough in recovery to do this but once I am I'd be glad to help. I hope you find a few takers here. Good luck. |

I think you would be great as a moderator, Bryan. You have been supportive of many people on the forum. I've bookmarked some interesting podcasts and reading material you have shared with us. You can stand on the shoreline and test the water with your toe for only so long. Eventually you gotta just dive in. |

How long do the sessions normally last? I've been wanting to drop in, but never have had the chance due to my weekend schedule...but if it looks like I can free up some time on the weekends, I may be interested.

It is great to see everyone's enthusiasm. First, you don't have to be recovered at all to be a moderator. The main role is to just say hi to people when they join the chat. Of course, the moderator can talk about their own experience and give advice if they want to, but it is not required.
Dustin, the sessions last about an hour. We can let the session go over if people want to keep chatting, but there is no need for the moderator to stay past an hour. I don't think I mentioned it before, but the sessions are 3-4 EST on Saturday. Moderators really only do one session a month or every other month, and there are always multiple mods there as well who can help out if it is necessary.
If you are anyone else is interested in moderating a session shoot me an email at forestfortrees at ymail dot com. I would also suggest just dropping in one week to see what it is like.

Thanks for the kind words Bugbear.
Forest,
In that case I may be able to help at some point. I have a direct conflict due to my daughters class on Saturdays right now but that will come to end soon. Email me at thenukes at yahoo and/or I will drop you a line soon. Thanks again for the work you do. |
