What a bummer. Several days ago, no symptoms, but now they are back, maybe not so bad, but bad enough. I am studying Mind Body by Sarno. Hope it starts taking effect. Anyone gone thru this? |

I've been finding, lately, that my sypmtoms wax and wane...and also that they move around. I think it's the brain's way of trying to win the battle for the distraction.
I'm only about half-way done with it at this point, but so far, I'd highly recommend SteveO's book if you haven't read it. It goes into his story in great detail of his symptoms and how he fought them. One of the things he mentions is the fact that he would have days that he'd feel like he had it beat and then other days it would seem to come back with a vengeance.
I would say don't be discouraged. Just keep at it! Remember...it's not just your conscious mind that has to fully accept the TMS diagnosis...it has to sink in to a deeper level and that can really only be done by repetition and continuing doing the right things and not fearing the recurrence of pain, etc.

Thanks Dustin, I agree with you and I must just keep on keeping on. I have Steve's book ordered and will jump into it when it arrives. I think I've figured out what is my trigger and that is after retiring from teaching Adult Ed, I was rehired to teach a little more. When I found a flaw in the system, I repair it and got chewed out for doing so and in return I got salty with a principal who in turned had me let go. This has angered me a lot and now I think I know where this started from and now I have a basis to where to start. Thank you all for your help. I will continue on to success with all this wonderful help. Michael B |

And thus the story goes for those of us with a goodist nature. You want things to be operating the way they're SUPPOSED to operate and you got chastised for fixing a problem. You came to your own defense and got terminated...yeah, I could see how the inner child could be stomping his foot saying "NOT FAIR! NOT FAIR!" and boiling with rage.
You'll continue to improve!

I understand the waxing and wane. I find that with me also. Rec'd Steve's book and find it really interesting and a learning tool. I'm just got to page 33 and feel I'm learning about myself and TMS. Looks like I've had different forms of TMS since I was 16. You name it and I probably had something similar to it. Now that I am 70 I intend to learn how to cleanse myself of TMS. Dustin you are the man. Thanks for your opinions and help. All together I can see a brighter tomorrow.

I just finished SteveO's book earlier today. A lot of information to absorb! He also includes that handy-dandy Appendix A that I went through and highlighted every symptom I have experienced...as to try to pinpoint my earliest manifestations to try to get to a root cause...if that's even possible. I had highlighted "yawning" and thought, "well, now that's interesting" but then I finished reading the description and un-highlighted it (I am using an ebook). You'll have to read that description...gave me a good chuckle. That's one of the things I like the most about the book besides the copious amount of information...his use of wit and humor.
