Approximately two months ago I began running again (treadmill, although yesterday I jogged in the park) despite "shin splints" and "ankle pain" when I do. These pains, were never a major symptom for me (I just avoided running); but when I began reading Sarno I knew they had to be part of the TMS process (especially since they started after all my other symptoms began). Anyway, my point is that a majority of the time I can run and distract myself from the pain; but in other instances (yesterday and today for example) I have to return to a fast walk because it hurts too much. If I ever have to resort to this I do remember to tell myself that I should not look at this as a defeat and that it is still all TMS in play. But part of me continues to feel guilty. I need some advice.
Also, I do not know a great deal about running: must I stretch before or after you run? And what stretches in particular should I be doing? Or is doing anything of these nature merely reinforcing TMS?
  Thanks!
