My gf wanted to watch a movie last night, (I don't know why she can't watch the Tennis Channel on Saturday night?). So, she found a flick on PBS starring Carey Grant as Dr. Noah Praetorious, in the movie "PEOPLE WILL TALK", made in 1951. It was absolutely AMAZING that this good doctor was spouting verbatim, TMS "knowledge penicillin", to his patients. The movie is a quasi comedy-love story-drama, typical Hoolywood, 90 minutes of something for everybody. It's pretty funny at times especially Dr. Praetorious's mysterious hench-man assistant.
This movie is deserving of a remake, so who would you have play Dr. Sarno? Too bad Carey Grant isn't around anymore.
Below is a link to the imdb movie review page with info on the flick:

Tom, you make me laugh. I have People Will Talk in my Netflix que but have never watched it, now I will. And then I'll talk about it, to people. I will.
As far as Dr. Sarno's actor, it would depend on whether it was the young or old doc Sarno. Go look at Colin Ferrell and then picture a young Sarno, back when fire was first invented, they have similar face structures. For older doc Sarno I would like to see Robert Duval. Sarno is Italian, it's actually an island that's called Sarno where the good doctor's family came from. So you could go with Robert DeNiro, or Luca Brazzi. The person who said Anthony Hopkins is pretty good too. That would probably be great, since we saw him as a compassionate doctor in Elephant Man. If all else fails there's always Pee Wee Herman. |

Those are all good, I like Pee-Wee, his was the only kid's show I would watch (at the age of fifty) since Howdy Doody. I'm glad he's getting some gigs again. I think he got a raw deal, he wasn't hurting anyone just taking care of his own business, comedic genuses are always a little different. |

If you want to morph it into a horror movie you can cast Tom Cruise. |
