Hi, I have been battling TMS for more than 2 years. I didn't believe my psychologist when he told me my symptoms where all coming from my inner rage. I thought i was actually sick. In fact, I was diagnosed with postural orthostatic tachycardia syndrome. My blood pressure was so low I needed medication to keep me from feeling like I was passing out all day. That is doing a lot better and I'm no longer on medication for it.
The bad thing is I became obsessed with my health and progressed into full blown health anxiety crazy woman! I thought I was dying, head pain, neck pain, pins and needles in hands, back pain, nausea, and my remaining and most annoying symptom, lightheadedness with some neck crunching/clicking and discomfort. I googled anything and everything and was convinced I had everything I read about, even though most of my testing came up normal! I have had a lot of MRIs, x-rays, blood tests and I have seen more specialists than you can imagine.
Finally i had to admit to my psychologist that he was right and that this was TMS. I read Mindbody Connection and the Mindbody Presciption. I read this entire forum and that lead me to reading Claire Weekes' book. All of this has helped me tremendously, my pain is a lot betetr and I'm only left with a lot of lightheadedness (not all of the time but most) and a very crunchy and clicky neck. I am a mom of two young children and I work and live in nyc. I am having a difficult time letting go of my health concerns and really letting go and enjoying my life and that is why I'm here. I'm committed to change and I see a psychologist who believes strongly in TMS and supports my efforts to overcome this. Any advice is warmly welcomed, I feel like I know you all already having read many posts here :)
Thanks!
C

I think more people got sick by Google than the flu virus every year. Delete Google from your favorite. Take your lovely kids to Central Park and play with them. You found all the tools you would need to get well already, now you just need to get away from Google and spend more time with real humans. You will be your old self again soon.

Thanks for your reply Balto :) I can't wait to get back to CP with the kiddos. Yes, Google has been my downfall.

Hi Clover,
Welcome, I'm new to posting as well. If you have a psychologist that believes in TMS than you are in very good hands, and better off than most. This board is and my wife do the same for me. Good luck
Andy

I would think living in New York City would be enough in and of itself to give one TMS. Is it any surprise Dr. Sarno, the father of the theory, practices there? I found it amusing he mentions getting road-rage driving there and his wife has to calm him down. I wonder how much stress people have to endure running the gauntlet of the Occupy Wall Street thugs getting to work or trying to walk their children to school having them terrorized.

googling will scare the tar out of you--my ocd latches onto relentless googling-then insomnia kicks in. google=nothing good unless your looking for an out of town restauraunt review.

Tennis Tom, it is so incredibly stressful here. Before i got my TMS I was working as a public school teacher in the South bronx for 7 years. I quit my job, found a more relaxing new one and bam! 4 weeks later I started feeling like I was going to pass out, having head pressure...I do my best now to try to lead a more relaxing, less hassled life but it's not easy because it is a stressful environment. My job now is quite low key and that helps too.

Totally Jaya, I'm trying really hard not to Google, I am guilty of going way over the top with googling symptoms. I have had so much testing done at nyu hospital, I must have been near Sarno a million times, lol
