Those are the results from the Ct scan done this feb 3rd,is this also TMS? my dr thinks my problem is not phsycological, since i developed all this pain after a surgery and he is sure they damaged the pudendal nerve during that surgery. I tried to explain to him about TMS,but he told me that people who develops this kind of pain ,are peolple who have been abused or something like that,i left his office with dispair, and he wnts me to see urgently a colo rectal specialist . It is possible that my pain could be related due to a real colitis and that thickening of my sigmoid colon? |

lara, don't worry at this stage about whether this is TMS or not. Dr Sarno says to get checked out by experts before you take the TMS route, and this is what you're doing, and it sounds exactly like what you NEED to do. This is a great chance to learn about your health, so try to stay calm, ask questions, make sure you know what you're being told - ask them to repeat themselves, or write things down if necessary.
Take a friend if you need support, and try not to worry too much about what insensitive doctors say! They're not all great communicators. I guess what this one was trying to convey is that he thinks it's physical. Well, hear him out, and the specialist he wants you to see, and with all the facts at your disposal, you can make your own decisions.
Really, if you are having these symptoms, they do need to be checked out first.
This is just my opinion, others may differ. I'm just saying what I would do.
Hope you feel better soon,

Hi lara,
I agree with everything Joy responded with. The TMS process is "confirm with a doc that you do not have a serious disease, then treat as TMS."
Having said that, it is possible that in your case "Post Surgery Issue" + "TMS Pain" = "Your Total Pain". So, you MAY be experiencing a bit of both.
So unfortunately you cannot just go only the TMS route. You can however do both in that some of what you are battling is the anxiety/fear, so that will amp you up. Many of the TMS techniques are helpful to reduce the anxiety part.
After you get checked out by a doc for the post surgery issue -and- have a clear bill of health you can add "repudiate the physical diagnosis" to your treatment.
Take care, -Stryder |
