I live in the central part of North Carolina and I finally decided to see Dr. Bruce Hill in Charlotte (3 hours away) for a TMS eval. I was told at his old work number that he no longer worked there, was not currently seeing patients, and had gone back to medical school full time to specialize in psychiatry....Can anyone verify or dispute this information? |

Actually, why I was thinking about seeing Dr. Bruce Hill for a TMS evaluation was because I was wondering if I needed to have a second TMS evaluation...Here is the story, in brief...30 years of sciatic pain down the leg to the foot. 3 ruptured discs. Many surgeries and every physical treatment under the sun. Saw Dr. Randy Cohen, an osteopath, in Lancester, Pa. about 7 years ago. He was a very good listener, very sharp, and very compassionate - did medical history, giving good focus to psychological factors, plus physical exam, including Sarno pressure points. He diagnosed me wtih TMS. My own self-diagnosis, after reading most of the Sarno books and books of many of his followers, is also TMS...I guess you could say that I am a success story because the butt, leg, ankle, and foot pain have been about 85% better the last 3 or 4 years. But I still have several days of intense pain here and there - usually after lifting something over 10 pounds or reaching forward to get something...But sometimes I get the pain, for an hour or so, after just THINKING of performing the "prohibited" activity. (How weird is that?)...I am 90% sure this pain can be attributed to conditioning, but doubts creep up regarding structural possibilities...Hence, I have the idea maybe I need a second TMS doctor to look at me...Am I crazy? |

I haven't heard anything else about Dr. Hill. I have no reason to doubt what I was told since I called where he used to work. The story makes sense - that he would head in that direction vocationally - from rheumatology to psychiatry - if he is deeply interested in psychosomatic medicine...The only thing I was wondering was if he saw patients "on the side" while attending medical school, but I suppose this would be unlikely. |
