Is there a Sarno trained medical doctor in Australia? A friend is scheduled for spinal fusion surgery to cure what appears to be TMS. He desperately needs to be examined and diagnosed by a Sarno physician. Any ideas? Thanks. Steve

Steve, I don't believe there is.....as far as this stuff goes our medical industry seems to still be in the stone age. However don't take my word have a good look yourself.....but I didn't manage to find anyone.

Not TMS per se, but Dr. Brian Broom, located in Auckland, has written one of the best narrative medicine books available, called "Meaning-Full Disease". If you contact him you may be able to receive some help, either directly from him or from someone he knows. He is an immunologist/allergist, but understands (or rather practices from) the mind-body connection well.
Here is his book link:

Someone else relating more to pain is Dr. Lorimer Moseley, who I'm not sure is a medical doctor, but is a leading researcher in the field of pain, and is a large proponent and expansionist of the neuromatrix theory of pain, which is what Howard Schubiner teaches and John Sarno implies.

He will DEFINITELY be able to lead you somewhere if not to someone. We all can gain a lot from the blog in our four-dimensional surveys of pain in our lives.
Best of luck to your friend. |

Thanks for your ideas. How many decades, centuries will it take for Sarno's teachings to spread? Steve

I have been carrying out the TMS Wiki structured education programme and Dr Schubiner consistently crops up. I am impressed with his writings and videos. I believe he has an online training course – might be worth looking at? Maybe someone on the forum could say whether they have carried out his training course and what they thought of it?
I had a quick look at the TMS wiki site and found there is a practitioner in Australia - http://mindbodyhealing.com.au. |

If anyone can find me an English speaking TMS Dr. or practioner in Paris, France, I would be everlastingly in their debt - like Australia, France appears to be totally in the darkk ages regarding TMS - I have read Sarno and Schubiner and know I have TMS but cannot rid myself of it and just feel I really need a 'hands on Dr. to be rid of this constant pain although I know it flies in the face of TMS practise. Many thanks for any help or advise. Ophelia |

No listing of TMS docs in France, Italy and the UK yes. Maybe you could take the chunnel, train or plane? I don't think by any means is it contrary to TMS "practice" to get dx'ed by a doctor, where did you get that notion? It would be the smart thing to do, why reinvent the wheel?
You could try calling Dr. Sarno's office, his receptionist might know of a doctor in France that isn't listed here.
TMS PRACTITIONERS:
John Sarno, MD 400 E 34th St, New York, NY 10016 (212) 263-6035
