I am constantly stretching my spine backwards, or side to side, to crack/pop my spine, usually whenever it twinges, or whenever I notice I'm slouching. I wondered if anyone else does this. It doesn't seem to help at all, so I don't quite know why I do it.
Am trying to stop. It probably reinforces a physical reasoning for my pain, so is detrimental to TMS.
Any tips on stopping compulsive spine popping? |

I also twist my neck to get a pop out of it when I am a little stressed (it is a running joke around my work when an issue comes up, people say are you popping your neck yet?); I also pop my knuckels which in my mind is about the same thing. I don't really have pain when I do it, and am sure it is a little OCD thing. If it is a nervous habit, it will do not harm or do good, and as long as you TRULY realize that, I do not think need to worry about it. The only issue is that if you obsess about trying to stop it it might hinder your TMS recovery. |
