Hi everyone, I'm one of those who about ten years ago read "Mind Over Back) by Dr. Sarno and had a complete healing in about six weeks. This was after years (and hundreds of dollors) of searching for something to eliminate the pain.
Several years ago after getting out of a very intense relationship, the pian started to reoccur.I went to see Dr Schechter in L.A. and he confirmed T.M.S.
I felt great for a few weeks after the visit but the pain came back. I fell off the wagon a few times, went to an osteopath, and even an acupunturist ,who by the way turned out to be my wife.(she's very open to TMS by the way)
Meanwhile seeing the error of my ways I went back and read the Sarno books again. It helps but sometimes I feel like I'm losing ground. I just became a father for the first time at the age of 53,self employeed as a speaker which can get very intense with travel and all the details of "making it happen".About a month after my daughter's birth I began to get neck pain right along with the back pain. I'm considering getting checked out by Schechter again and perhaps working with a TMS pyhcologist.
Your comments are greatly appreciated Does anyone know of a TMS Doctor and or TMS pyhcologist in OREGON ? tHANKS

I think you already know the answer - your TMS symptoms have resurfaced. Read some of the posts on this site and you will see that relapses are common, and the treatment is the same - read the books, do the thinking.
See the good doctor again if you can, but in the meantime why not try refreshing your memory with some of the reading - you didn't say whether you had read the more recent Sarno book (The Mindbody Prescription) - I'd also recommend Sopher's book, which is only $5 for the electronic version - see http://www.tmshelp.com/forum/topic.asp?TOPIC_ID=670 for an earlier discussion on this

Donnroc, I too had a wonderful recovery a few years ago from TMS, after being diagnosed by Dr. Scott Brady in Orlando. Then, I had a baby. WOW! Talk about stress! The pain started shortly after his birth. Then, I had another baby 20 months after the first. WOW AGAIN! The pain worsened even more after this birth.
I have put off dealing with it until just a few weeks ago when I finally got fed up enough to take it on!
I e-mailed Dr. Brady some time ago to let him know of the return of my symptoms, and even though he told me that he could not diagnose me via e-mail, he did relate the story of his wife having their 4th child and shortly thereafter, bam! Neck pain! And sure enough it was TMS.
Those kids'll do it to ya! Plus it really sounds like you have got an incredibly hectic schedule on top of that!
I'm just trying to hang in there and keep the faith! I really took my TMS head-on this morning by running on the treadmill and I'm going to continue taking it on until this junk stops! I say BRING IT to the TMS!!!
Best wishes to you in your recovery! |
