Having lived with a variety of likely TMS stuff and physical anxiety and hypochondria it would appear that it has now become a pain in the arse, literally!

This all started with an incredibly itchy anus which quickly became chronic and became pretty encompassing in my day to day life. Once the itching started to subside I started getting the weirdest sensation in my behind, like a cross between incomplete passing and also like a mild contraction, I have no pain but the sensation in itself is very disconcerting almost like something is up there the whole while.

Anyway, I had a flexible sigmoid about 8 months ago when the itching 1st started and this was all totally fine, nada piles, fissures, inflammation nothing! I have seen my GP a few times and have been examined internally and told I'm good to go, I have also now started to get a pretty constant growling stomach and faux hunger pains which the GP's have said is classic anxiety related stuff as I'm stressing over the bum issues, all good fun.

So, is this something anyone else has experienced? To me it fits the TMS criteria as even though it isnt painful it is totally disconcerting and is becoming all consuming...the trademark of all the other, now mostly resolved, physical TMS symptoms I have had. What is also telling for me is that this sort of feels like a muscular contraction.

It really is a bugger this stuff as is just sneaks back up on you and bites you. I'm nowhere near as bad as I have been with other stuff in the past but I'm growing quite concious that this could start to escalate once again.

Any advice, opinions would be great...thanks all.

I don't know about the contraction part but for the itching, I have had this and used witch hazel. Could be a tiny internal hemorrhoid that you don't see. Hot baths, ice cubes, all of that helped me. More fiber just in case it's caused by hard stools. I hope it goes away, sounds very annoying.

Hi ,I'm new on this forum,so i've only just seen this post.I dont know much about TMS i've only just discovered it and have'nt read the book yet.BUT i most certainly have had/have this symptom(the "pain"not the itching)Its hard not to believe its something physical(well it is!!)I think its muscular contractions. But what the hell you do about it i dont know!I believe practically all my problems are due to cronically contracted muscles. The best the drs seem to be able to offer is anti depressants. To show willing i've tried several. The side effects are awlful and i'm just not willing anymore to take something that makes me feel worse!!The frustration of it is just awlful.I shall read the book, but i cant seem to make myself believe anymore in anything.Yes its a pain in the arse!!!
