Hey...
I am still fighting over TMS...it is mostly my so-called RSI but sometimes there are other aches, too. I am 18 for god's sake! Started sport last week (need to lose 5kg) and now I am sitting here with knee pain. And I didn't do THAT much..bit of skipping, c<cling, bit of going up and downstairs, walking, ... I mean, I am young, I shouldn't be hurting from a bit of excercise..but I am already worrying about my future, whem I am like 30 and having knee surgeries etc... I am so frustrated when I think how fragile my body is, and when I hear that so many people can't do sports etc.. I do not want that! I want to be active and sporty and everything 'till I die, so to speak. Human race couldn't have survived this if we were so weak, could we?
These 5kg aren't exactly that much, and officiaally I am not even overweight, just high-normal, so this shouldn't be an issue...
How do you handle this? Running etc. despite of the knowledge you could get knee arthritis and the like in future?

Thank you all. You've already helped me to get back some life after I almost had given up with RSI. Still fighting, but I hope I will be able to be "normal" one day.

>>>>That’s the prob I think and you know better so don’t fight it , stress about it and it will all come together.

. I am so frustrated when I think how fragile my body is, and when I hear that so many people can't do sports etc.. I do not want that! I want to be active and sporty and everything 'till I die, so to speak. Human race couldn't have survived this if we were so weak, could we?

>>>>>Our bodies are amazing and can do many things even in old age
Just look at people n the 70-80’s that still run marathons. They are not supermen and superwoman …just healthy folks that exercise and take care of themselves. Just think I saw not to long ago a guy in his 80 that had run over20 marathons and also saw people in thier70-80 do a triathlon AMAZING

Point is you can do it if you believe and want to.

These 5kg aren't exactly that much, and officially I am not even overweight, just high-normal, so this shouldn't be an issue...

You will be fine…… first believed and work towards optimum heath think and treat yourself healthy and it will pay off. Think young stay young, act young, and In the long run a blessing will be added to your old age. Your young start thinking young and you will remain youthful.

BTW
Im 43 and run 3 Xs a week also do some boxing training and feel vibrant again. 8 years ago I could not even walk , bend over to put my socks on in the morning.

Wow. That sounds great...I am hopeful that I will achieve my goals (being sporty and healthy.. etc..) It just seems so far sometimes.

I am very unsure how much my body can handle.
For example a very new and disturbing thing for me, please dont laugh.
I floss my teeth every night with floss and my indexfinger (which hold the floss and "moves" it, therefore needs strengh etc) is hurting. So what should I do? Flossing is important but I am really afraid of hurting my indexfinger joint (the little part on top)doing this movement everyday. So annoying, I am almost afraid of flossing every night and now it takes more than 1hours because I stop and take a break when it starts hurting...
I've taken the habit of flossing for 4-5 months now, and now it hurts. Rest? Stop? Just continue?

Yes, you may well be. It's NOT normal to floss your teeth for an hour! There's a TV show about obsessions that you may qualify for. In the inimitable words of Austin Gary, the founder of this board: "It's not TMS if you hit yourself over the head with a hammer 100 times."

If you wish to floss your teeth, never the less, there are many devices purchasable at pharmacies that you can use so you don't have to wrap the floss around your finger for hours at a time. I would seriously seek out professional help for yourself.

As for your desire to exercise, which would benefit you greatly, start with walking or swimming, you won't do any serious damage with those to activities.

Sounds like the gal is flossing for so long because she has to keep stopping because of pain in her finger...

Anyway, as TT says, there are other devices you can use....

Of course, there's simply no way to hurt yourself with normal, correct flossing...

I need to stop and take pauses of like 10min.
So of course it takes forever...
But I was wondering if I could get RSI or sth. because of the repetitive movement - so here it is, I am back in the whole RSI and physical ballpark =(

Yea thats pretty good I rem Garry as his best too.

Yup knew a smart doc that used to talk about using all different kinds of drugs that didn’t make sense.
He said ya have a kid sitting on a tack, you can throw all the drugs ya want at them, it may help, and mask the pain for a while.

But first you must remove the tack and treat the underlying problem then you can help heal them.
He was referring to detox but all in all same stuff.. same principle
