Hi,

Yes, I had odd, yellow colored poops about one year ago. I'm not sure if it was from something I ate or what, but my health anxiety ran wild with it.

Though you may want to go to a doctor, if you said your blood work is good, it's most likely what you ate. There are lots of dyes and artificial ingredients in many things that we eat that can color stools, not to mention naturally occurring things.

I cured this problem by not looking anymore. I'm still here.

Have you had a doctor check the stool itself and/or discussed with a doctor all changes (particularly timing)? Any visible abnormality lasting more than a few days I would check via stool sample and visit.

I had yellow stool back when I first developed IBS(TMS).
I cant really describe it. It was yellow, runny like diarreha, alot of it floated. I went to my doctor about it and he wasnt concerned at all. My anxiety had a field day with it. At the time I was going through alot of hypochondria and stress. The yellow stools went away and never returned. I think it was about 4 years ago when it happened and it lasted on and off for several months. I can only say that once I stopped worrying about it and all my stomach problems is when it left.

The Very simple answer is most likely yeast maybe predigested stool (that means stool left too early before it was fully Formed)

This can happen with the use of antibiotics / drugs or anything that destroys your good gut flora.
If it continues go to Heath food store and get some probiotics and restore your gut flora.

Ps. There are many symptoms that can be helped/ fixed using general heath and nutrition. Problem is everyone runs to doctor or chases their symptoms instead of some good old commonsense and detective work. In fact there are so many natural approaches for a host of symptoms . You will be surprised how much it would solve ruling out symptoms once you learn your body.

I would like to recommend to everyone at least to consider getting a book called “Encyclopedia to natural medicine” by Michael Murray
You can prob get it for 6$-10$ on Amazon.

I like the medical text recommendation. As to the discolored poop, I second the member who said just don't look. It's pretty rare something's going to go wrong in that department that's serious. I think many TMS'ers are full-blown hypochondriacs. Minutely examining ever little bodily function is probably not the way to go for us.

added note

Yellow stools usually indicate yeast is present. Chronic problem with diarrhea is something that needs to be attended to. (Something else is going on…)
If pattern continues you may also want to take a good look at past few days/ diet / something that may have changed.

However if thy are yellow yet firm then it usually means the stool was Passed before it had time to go through all phases of digestion. Not uncommon or something to be alarmed with.

Of course you are aware that many things can effect stool color especially food colorings and additives so make sure you read ingredients and note any of those things as well.

Since we're on the topic of stool colors, very dark, "tarry" colored stools, on a continual basis, can be an indicator for ulcers. This can be caused by overuse of OTC pain killers such as Aleves. This should be taken seriously, as it is one of the major causes of ER visits.
