my therapist told me something the other day.. since i have a hard time grasping the tms concept fully. (about my digestive issues) she said if the brain controls the digestive process--why dont you think it couldnt stop it, start it , or speed it up---???? weird-but simple train of thought,, she also said, dont you find it weird that your symptoms abate when you sleep?? has anyone thought about this??

I have but it seems impossible to control what in my case is an immediate brain to gut reaction. Within seconds of anxiety coming over me, I have diarrhea. Even if I am going somewhere that has no bathroom, like a bus, and I take Imodium, it does not help. Fortunately, I haven't had an accident outdoors but it's a lousy way to live.
Stress doesn't always give me this extreme a reaction but surely messes up my digestive system and I get some sort of stomach pain. I don't think we can will it away with our brain so easily. The fight or flight reaction is built into most animals and us. |

It is interesting. I have the same experience. Symptoms seem to disappear when I sleep.also they seem less intense in the evening. This sounds consistent with TMS. When I give myself permission to stop generating tension (at night and while sleeping) The TMS goes to sleep as well
