Hi Brenda,

I ran a conference for TMS doctors earlier this year in Michigan, and several from the Canton area expressed interest. One who came was named John Nadas, MD 330-489-1495. Another named Ned Nafziger was not able to come, but I believe he also treats TMS. I don't know if Canton is close enough to where you are, I don't think I know anyone in Western PA.

I'm from Ohio, and when I began my search into TMS, there was no one around here to help out. I was prety much on my own during the "recovery" process. Please don't worry if you cannot find a tms doc. It's really important to focus on those underlying causes of tms. Do you have the people pleaser personality, the perfectionist, do you suppress your anger?

I can tell you on of the biggest breakthroughs I have had was focused around fear. I would say is one of the biggest causes of TMS If you think about it, why do people become perfectionists and people pleasers? Many fear if they are not perfect or that if they let someone down they will be rejected, they fear loss of love. I believe one of the greatest gifts we can give one another is love. If we have not been perfected in love, than we develop fear. When we are constantly in fear, we eventually will develop a TMS symptom.

I work for a clinic and I'm constantly telling the docs, the residents and med students about TMS and some of them are pretty receptive, so maybe one day we will get a doc here in Ohio. Until then try and focus on the real issue behind your pain syndrome. My internet browser is not working right now, but I believe on Kim Ruby's website there was a tms doc in Pennsylvania. I try and locate that for you later on.
