hi all, I know that Sarno mentions allergies and I know many of you have gotten over seasonal and food allergies. So my question is what about cat allergies. I only noticed myself having reactions to cats sometime in late high school. I just recently remembered that I used to go to a friend's house when I was around 13 who had a cat and there was never any problem. I just remembered that as I started writing this post.
I'll raise my hand to that. I have two cats and I was diagnosed 10 years ago with "mild" allergies to cats by a respected allergist in my area. I'd gone along for the past decade, sneezing and acquiring one sinus infection after another, attributing much of it to my allergies (not only to cats). Fast forward to last December: After 18 months of self-treatment with Sarno's theories, as well as a year of psychotherapy, I repeated an extensive battery of allergy tests. Guess what? NO allergies reported after all the testing. My "post-nasal drip" and other sinus issues are now being attributed to reflux, another TMS equivalent, but SOooooo interesting that the allergies just...disappeared? I'm thanking God that my kitties are not the culprits!
Yes, I used to be sensitive to them at my former MIL's house but only when I didn't want to be there or wanted to get going home. When I was ok with being there, the cats didn't bother me. Hmmm. . . now I have no reaction to kitties--my SIL had one for a while and it never bothered me--even when I was petting it.
