about 1.5 years ago I went to a chiro (haven't been to one sense) and she was so rough and put a block under one hip and pushed on me and then pushed real hard on my sacrum, and within leaving there my hips were twisted and I got tailbone pain.
I just figured it would heal.
Now my pelvis is still twisted and my sacrum still hurts, so can this be tms pain?? I can feel my pelvis is askew when I walk and how my jeans fit.
anyone else with this problem and has the tms helped with it?
I haven't had it xrayed or anything. |

I got bad tailbone pain after giving birth (now I realize it was fear of being caretaker of an infant! I remember feeling afraid about it). I asked if it would heal and my doc told me "no!" She said she heard it pop while I was pushing my son out. Well I lived with that all these years, the belief that I was injured forever. I was afraid to do anything that involved tailbone resting, even sitting a long time seemed to bother my tailbone. Augh! To think I wasted years thinking that! I asked Dr. Sarno about this and he said it is absolutely not true it would be injured forever; the body heals. That was 1.5 years ago. Slowly those words got into my brain. This isn't something I thought about much, so recently I decided to get bold and do some exercises that require resting on the tailbone and you know what, I felt no pain! I can now sit for hours, do lean-back exercises on the tailbone, etc. and my tailbone does not hurt. This was a wonderful gift and quite a revelation to me! So the pain I had in my tailbone WAS TMS! Fear kept me from healing it for so long! |

I had bad tailbone pain when I was a teenager. I wound up not going to gym class for most of that year. I was told that it was the result of bad posture, so I concentrated on sitting up straighter and not slouching. It took a really long time for that pain to go away -- probably close to a year, if memory serves me correctly. I'm not sure what brought it on to begin with. But I was under a lot of stress as a teenager, so maybe it was a TMS symptom.
Anyway, if you think that the chiropractor did this to you, and if you've been in pain every day since leaving her office, maybe you should get it looked at. Either it's psychosomatic, or she really did mal-align you. From the way you describe it, it sounds like she may have "done something" to you. You might consider seeing an osteopath, who could put you back into alignment gently. That is, if it really is an alignment problem and not purely TMS. |

Hi Luvto,
It would be remiss to diagnose anything as TMS if it's causing you pain and you haven't had it checked out by a medical doctor. As you know however, injuries heal. When pain becomes chronic, then suspect TMS.
But to answer your question in a word, yes, your pain could possibly be TMS. I've had this problem for years. My pelvis was "askew" for months and my psychotherapist advised me to exercise but take it easy and listen to my body...it wasn't my "major" complaint so it was easier to ignore and it's completely gone. My MRI (last year) showed a protruding disc. Big deal, as if I just forget about it, there's no pain. I have had pain off and on since I had my second child (16 years ago!), but I just worked through it; besides, I never knew there was a disc "problem" until last year!
A few weeks ago I started jogging two to three miles on the treadmill and riding the bike for 30 minutes, three to four times a week. This was a light workout for me two years ago, but it's a lot for me now. Everything is a-ok. |

If you are still blaming misalignments for your pain, then you are far from accepting TMS. I suggest you re-read the portions of Dr. Sarno's books that explain how our bones do not go out of alignment, and how our bodies heal completely from all injuries. |

Thanks everyone, sure helped reading how it can go away.
I understand what your saying, I do have to live with it and accept it since I'm not going to have surgery or anything, so no sense in doing xrays or anything. I'll never go to another chiro to be sure, maybe some are good but how do ya know.

Again, I need to point out that if you believe that chiropractic has any benefit whatsoever, even from a "good" chiropractor, then you do not fully buy into the TMS theory.
You continually post that you have symptoms yet it is clear that you have not committed to accepting the TMS theory so this is not surprising. You must commit 100% if you expect to get relief. |

You right Dave, there will be no chiropractor in my future, I guess I just didn't want to offend anyone thats going to one, or if theres a chiropractor on here.
I know I must commit 100%.
