So....I'm on that string with the uhmmm..interesting slant on tooth fillings and the like.

I clicked on Tennis Tom's link to quackwatch.

I was lost for Hours!

That was freaking fascinating...I didn't realize there was watchdog groups that compiled info on the BOGUS medical and holistic practices.Thank you very much.

Now...all of you TMS disciples have probably had some of the same experiences as I. A lot of people think that Sarno is some king of "Holistic" healing ,and than pre-suppose that you are interested in the BS mountain heap of "holistic" crap available.

After my healing through reading his book,I of course was more open minded to non-traditional medical avenues....the distinction, however is ,Sarno bases all of his findings on Medical observation, has a medical model that explains the pain and pathology, and why the education works.

Many other "healers" have guessed correctly that the pain had something to do with the emotional realm, but having no explanation of how the two are connected.Intuitively,I want to agree with these people, but they denegrate their work by adding metaphysical mumbo jumbo to their ideas or practice.

On Quackwatch, the one that really made me laugh was the "APPLIED KINESIOLOGY"

....STORY:

My wife (chronic sciatica, migraines, allergies etc.) and her best friend are just RaViNg about this new Dr. They are seeing....His name is Dr. Marty. They tell me "Oh,you'll like him..he totally agrees with all your viewpoints about the medical industry"

My wife is now taking all these "supplements" because all her problems are due to "allergies" and he has discovered her "body type"

The FkR also told my kids that they are allergic to,among other things, corn products.I discovered this after I made dinner one night.
It was amazing how fast I cured him. I told him if he didn't eat the F-ing corn,he was never going to eat another piece of candy in his life,as virtually all candy has CORN SYRUP!!

miracle cure....where's MY PhD ??????

After numerous arguements,I finally went to see the quack...my "symptom" was anger...I always have a well stocked warehouse at any given moment.

So..I go to see this weenie, and the first thing I notice is he is a tall ,good looking southern gentleman type...isn't that curious...all his patients are middle aged women!(and their children)

Than,he had me hold different vials and objects while he cranks on my arms,legs,feet.....I paid close attention...when he wanted to get a result he pushed in a different fashion than when he didn't want a result.

I am pretty much of an A-hole myself, and intuitive at that,so when I sensed he was trying to get a "variation" I resisted harder or less, whatever the OPPOSITE of the result he was digging for necessitated.

At the end of our "diagnostic" session,he said "Hmmm...you're actually very healthy and your physical outer body is particularly strong.....I did sense a congestion in your liver...this is the seat of anger and I think you are probably angry a lot"

Hmmm...let's see...when I filled out your BS forms and it asked what your symptoms were,I put 'chronically angry'

Anyways.....I found the exact description of his BS trade at Quackwatch.Thank you Tom.

There is an Idea a float that "anybody who is against them is for us"
I do NOT subscribe to THAT belief.

I remain skeptical of everything, and remain 100% convinced that what we have is truly a gift and a miracle of sensibility....there are sooooo many BSers out there...with and without MDs.....

I want to show my wife the web page, but fear the ensuing arguement and beating...

Thanks
Humbly yours

Thanks Baseball65,

Glad I was able to turn you onto Quackwatch. I think they do a good job there of holding ideas up to the fire of scientific scrutiny.

Your post was hillarious. It made my morning. I loved the part about corn syrup, candy bars and your kids.

Was doc quack an MD? If so, it's scarey to think that the profession has lowered it's standards to such a degree.
