I was wondering if any of you have heard of "basilar artery occlusion," and if so, do you think it is really TMS? I ask because I have an acquaintance, a person I long ago pegged as either a hypochondriac or a fellow (but unaware) TMSer, who insists that she has it.

I don't know anything about this so called disease except what I could google on it. From what I read (on a physical therapy site, not exactly an objective source but it was the best I could find) it's basically described as an arterial irregularity causing "ischemia" to the brain which is a fancy term for reduced blood flow, which sounds suspicously like TMS.

My sort-of friend (she frequents the same pub we do) is going to school for naturopathy and it seems to me that this atmosphere might encourage her to self diagnose or to trust the diagnosis of someone who doesn't know what the heck they're talking about. Also, she just recently married a guy that she told me she didn't really want to marry but she wasn't sure what else to do since they'd been dating for 10+ years. That sounds like a huge can of rage inducing worms there; she's a fun person to chat with but I get the impression (duh!) she's not one for taking emotional responsibility for herself.

(It's so TMS, I know it! ) :)

I vaccilate between 3 feelings, 1) wanting to help her, 2) feeling grateful because it's probably TMS and I don't suffer from it anymore, and 3) wanting to kick her in the ass when she goes on about how she can't do this and can't eat that because of whatever-disease-of-the-week. It's only lately that it's been "the BA," before that it was Epstein Barr or food allergies or...

I wonder if I could tell her someone else had "BA" and recovered using Sarno's methods, if I might get her to pick up his book and figure herself out. It might work. I highly doubt it. But maybe. Any thoughts, anyone?

Hi Logan,
I am a patient of Sarno's. (wished you'd posted a few days ago as I just saw him on Tuesday and now he is on vacation until next year) Anyway I will be seeing him in January. I will ask about this so called condition and will post when I get an answer!

Logan, I vote for solution #3 . If that doesn't have any effect, advise her to do head stands or use gravity boots. That will greatly improve the blood flow to her brain.
