Hi - Just wanted to post that I visited Georgie Oldfield in Huddersfield, U.K. today and she confirmed that my condition was TMS. This was good to hear as hopefully it removes what was a lingering doubt about my shoulder problem being structural. I felt pretty positive on the train back, and could conceive more clearly than before of what it might be like to move past this problem. And I realised that until now I'd been not nearly as far down the line as I'd thought in terms of TMS acceptance and moving my attention away from the physical. I'm realising too it probably helps to be presented with TMS information in multiple formats e.g. lectures, discussions, DVDs, and not just re-reading books. To anyone who has just read the books who feels stuck, consider seeing a TMS-aware specialist, even if it involves some expense.

thanks, Andrew.

Congratulations Andrew. I am jealous of the fact that you have access to such a provider in your vicinity. I am still searching for someone in the state of Montana.

Any advice anyone?

Hi justme,

If you feel you need a TMS diagnosis to make progress, I'd bite the bullet and get one. The TMS therapist I went to is 200 miles away from me so I don't plan to go repeatedly, I just felt I needed a diagnosis to allow me to make progress. I know Montana may be a bit off the beaten track when it comes to cheap flights, but could you take a couple of days and visit a practitioner in another part of the US? If you do so, try to time it to include a discussion group or lecture ... I didn't but I kind of wish I had. It does make a difference discussing your condition with someone who had seen lots of similar cases, rather than just reading words on a computer forum or in a book. If you want to proceed with your chosen practitioner after the diagnosis it should be easier to do that remotely. Dr. Schubiner (he's in Missouri or Michigan?) also has an online program.

hope this helps ... Andrew.
